Introduction

I finally made it back to Mythic over last weekend. Today I just wanted to share my deck and my weekend rewards. I've been playing a control nature deck for the past weekends and I think I finally modified a solid version to play that's fairly consistent.

Whenever I tried to play aggro, I seemed to not draw the right cards early or the opponent just has the perfect board clears early. In the case of aggro vs aggro, I would also those. I had a terrible experience playing aggro which made steer clear from playing it.

My Performance Last Weekend

For last weekend event ranked I got 14 wins out of 18. I started with half of the bar in Solar Gold and I ended up winning my last battle which got me to Mythic at the end. I want to say I got kind of lucky with some of my cards that had RNG like canopy strike hits randomly. Anyways will be sharing my deck below.

Control Nature Curios Wisp

I played a budget control deck. I would consider this budget since it's less than 100 dollars and most top tier control decks are easily in a 4 digit price zone. The purpose of this deck is to completely control the battle and make the opponent use out all his cards. The deck has curious wisp so you will always have a card in the deck which won't let you lose health when you deck out and end your turn.

My early mana cards are mainly for having some sort of board control early as I realized I needed them to slow down aggro so I could get to my board clear cards like The Hunt and Enchanted Vines. Most of the deck is creature removal with the spells and the creatures are for trading. I have a few cards that heal like Winter's Bounty, Unexpected Gift and Ember Oni. I have iron-tooth goblin teched in to deal with annoying war relic or zombie relics. Necroscepter seems to be meta now even in control decks because it gets back its value easily provided opponent has no relic removal. I also have the dearly departed and shine on us all combo to destroy combo decks or remove win conditions from the opponent. Shine on us all also comes in handy against decks that buff their creatures like war olympian. Lastly, I have Polyhymnia for my late game along with my curious wisp

I just reached Mythic with this deck and I'm unsure how well it would perform in Mythic. There's a lot of control death decks which make me think Polyhymnia might not be worth playing due to apocalypse now. I will probably have to amend the deck now to suit mythic but will figure that out later on. I will play with this deck and see how it goes. I have a feeling I will mostly likely drop back to Diamond.

Share My Weekend Reward Pulls

I had a decent amount of wins over the weekend so I was able to get 2 MJ rare and 2 MJ epic packs along with 3 core rare and 3 core epic packs. After seeing Kstreets post on the value of the legendarys I'm wondering whether it's still worth it to play weekend ranked. Please do let me know down in the comments below. I for sure won't do the mortal prize which is playing for 30 wins that's crazy playing control as the matches are insanely long and there's no guarantee you'll win.

Nothing too great and didn't really expect much. Anybody have better luck with weekend ranked reward pulls?

Conclusion

Nothing much has changed with GU. Apparently we will be getting a new mode soon since Chaos Constructed is getting rotated out. I think this is still a Band-Aid for some of the problems that needs to be taken care of ASAP. They need to fix the ingame economy and actually close out sets at a certain time so cards can retain their value. We also need mobile but this should be released after everything else is fixed and stable. The meta also needs some work. I think we have to consider banning cards from weekend ranked play although this hurts the value of those "OP cards" but they are also ruining the fun of the game since they can't be changed anymore. I genuinely like GU but the team has to seriously make some big changes to hopefully turn around the declining player base.
