HUMAN RESPIRATORY AND CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Breathing
Air enters the body through the nostrils. The nostrils lead into nasal passage or nasal cavity. Dust and bacteria are trapped by the hair and mucus in the nasal passage. The air is also warmed and moistened in the nasal passage. From here, air is passed to windpipe or trachea through larynx or voice box. The opening of air passage in the larynx is called glottis which has a lid called epiglottis. The epiglottis prevents food from entering the trachea. Trachea divides into two tubes called bronchi (singular: bronchus). The bronchi carry air into the lungs one to each lung. The walls of the trachea and bronchi bear cilia and have mucus which trap dust particles and bacteria. Inside the lung the bronchi branch into smaller tubes called bronchioles. Each bronchioles ends in a group of sacs or alveoli (singular; alveolus). The lung look like sponges due to the presence of alveoli. Millions of alveoli are found the lungs. They are surrounded by thick network of blood capillaries.

ہوا جسم میں نتھنوں کے ذریعے داخل ہوتی ہے۔ نتھنے ناک کے راستے یا ناک کی گہا میں لے جاتے ہیں۔ دھول اور بیکٹیریا ناک کے راستے میں بالوں اور بلغم کے ذریعے پھنس جاتے ہیں۔ ناک کے راستے میں ہوا کو بھی گرم اور نم کیا جاتا ہے۔ یہاں سے، ہوا کو larynx یا وائس باکس کے ذریعے ونڈ پائپ یا trachea تک پہنچایا جاتا ہے۔ larynx میں ہوا کے راستے کے کھلنے کو glottis کہتے ہیں جس کا ایک ڈھکن ہوتا ہے جسے epiglottis کہتے ہیں۔ ایپیگلوٹس کھانے کو ٹریچیا میں داخل ہونے سے روکتا ہے۔ ٹریچیا دو ٹیوبوں میں تقسیم ہوتی ہے جسے برونچی کہتے ہیں (واحد: bronchus)۔ برونچی پھیپھڑوں میں ہر ایک پھیپھڑوں میں ہوا لے جاتی ہے۔ ٹریچیا اور برونچی کی دیواروں میں سیلیا ہوتا ہے اور بلغم ہوتا ہے جو دھول کے ذرات اور بیکٹیریا کو پھنستا ہے۔ پھیپھڑوں کے اندر برونچی کی شاخ چھوٹی ٹیوبوں میں بنتی ہے جسے برونکائیول کہتے ہیں۔ ہر bronchioles تھیلیوں یا alveoli (واحد؛ alveolus) کے ایک گروپ میں ختم ہوتا ہے۔ الیوولی کی موجودگی کی وجہ سے پھیپھڑے سپنج کی طرح نظر آتے ہیں۔ پھیپھڑوں میں لاکھوں الیوولی پائے جاتے ہیں۔ وہ خون کی کیپلیریوں کے گھنے نیٹ ورک سے گھرے ہوئے ہیں۔
