The word “wanderlust” finds its origins in the German words “wandern” (to hike) and “Lust” (desire) — a strong desire to travel or wander. In the physical sense wanderlust is a desire to travel and immerse oneself in culture, lifestyle and environments they discover. In the non-physical sense, it’s a desire to explore our inner world, to discover and learn who we are inside.

Many seek to do both, expanding their physical and conscious awareness. It speaks to our interconnectedness that new experiences in the physical world can trigger new awareness in our inner world. The map, backpack and compass symbolic of the wanderlust traveler forms a metaphor for the soul’s quest for understanding and growth.

Whether wandering the physical world or the inner world of the soul we find ourselves in a vast tapestry with infinite possibilities of paths to take. Each path a unique opportunity for experiences and insights based on the choices we make and what we choose to follow or avoid.

The physical compass guides our journey in the world, the inner compass guides values, principles, and beliefs. Each journey is one of discovery, learning, resiliency and learning to deal with the unpredictable nature of life.
