This week I’m talking about the strawberry which come into season in June.
Yes, with modern growing methods and transportation I can eat strawberries year round by purchasing imported strawberries in the off season. I’ve never found the strawberries brought from afar as inviting as those I can get locally during that brief season each year. Maybe by waiting for them to be available locally, I appreciate them more.

One of the things I miss from living in Florida is the big Plant City Strawberry Festival. While we can get strawberries locally grown here in Indiana - this weekend is the local strawberry festival in fact - I've never tasted strawberries that taste as good as those grown in Plant City and picked straight off the vine right at the heart of their freshness. Loved this episode!
