Book Review: The Spanish Love Deception/Escapismo perfecto by Elena Armas
If you’re looking for something fun, flirty, and heartfelt — The Spanish Love Deception will make you fall in love all over again. 💃🏽💞
As you all know, I'm more of a reader than a movie lover, but sometimes the both can balance each other 😁.
Last time I wrote about the book I read “It ends with you.” Just when I thought that book was a blast and then Boom 🤯 I came across"The Spanish Love Deception” by Elena Armas,” this story has it all, Fake dating + slow burn romance = I'm screaming YES PLEASE! 🤪 It’s funny and light but still emotional. I call it the “Escapismo perfecto” (Perfect escapism).
If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers vibes with tension that builds like a kettle about to explode, this one will have your heart racing. I love the drama, suspense and emotions in this story.
If you have ever been in a relationship and then like those times you guys broke up, suddenly you were invited to a wedding that your ex fiancee will be attending 😱 trust me you'll like to show him what he missed. Like every bit of you will be screaming GO GIRL 🥵.
Catalina Martín was that lady, she had a small problem,
Her sister is getting married in Spain, and everyone including her ex-boyfriend and his fiancée — expects her to show up with a plus-one.
The problem? Catalina doesn’t have one. She needed a fake boyfriend to take to her sister’s wedding in Spain, especially since her ex (and his new fiancée) will be there.
Trust me she didn't want to look like a loser and not even in front of her family. But to save face and stop her family from worrying about her love life, she told a tiny lie… that she has an American boyfriend who’s coming with her to the wedding.
Out of nowhere, he offers to pretend to be her boyfriend and go with her to Spain. Catalina is shocked. She doesn’t even like him. He's cold, blunt, and she’s sure he doesn’t like her either.
Does she have any choice ? NO! she’s forced to say yes.
They both traveled to Spain and successfully fooled everyone in their love life. But as they pretend to be in love, real feelings start to grow, things start to go crazy. I actually loved this part. And soon, Catalina begins to wonder if it’s really just a game, or if it’s becoming something real.
Actually I think Catalina really deserved a real, deep, and heart-melting love just like You and I.
Tell me have you ever hired someone to play your partner? How did it end up?

Omg, I LOVED reading this. You seriously just took me back into the whirlwind that is The Spanish Love Deception and now I kinda want to reread it just for the emotional rollercoaster all over again. I felt the same way when I finished it, like I needed to take a moment to breathe and process all the slow-burn tension the fake kissing dating chaos, and all those almost moments that had me internally screaming "JUST KISS ALREADY"
I totally get what you mean by Escapismo perfecto, this book was like a mini vacation with a side of butterflies and drama. Catalina is so relatable, like who hadn't want to prove to the world (and an ex) that we're thriving? i felt her panic, her pride and her quiet hope all in one
You decribed the whole vibe of the book perfectly. This is exactly why i like hearing people talk about stories they connect with, it just makes you want to into the book all over again and feell all those emotions again
And No, I've never hired someone to pretend to be my partner (yet 🥲) but you've got me wondering what kinda chaos would come from that. Probably not as cute as Catalina's.... or maybe?
The way you broke it all down......... exactly how I felt but 10x more beautifully said. You didn’t just reply, you wrote a whole love letter to the book and I’m obsessed.
The fake dating chaos really was a mini vacation with butterflies. Thanks for dropping by Kristy 🥰

I have seen this story several times in some movies, hence the plot is not new, the details would be enough to determine how different they are.
Yeah, the overall plot might be familiar, but I’m you should be curious to see how the details play out. Sometimes it’s the little twists or character development that really set it apart. Thanks for dropping by
