hola soy Goku!!
Hello everyone! Today I'm here to tell you about the cosplay contest at the Ñoña Collectors' Fair and how my cosplay partner and I won it.

how are you doing, beautiful community?
That's how it all began...
We're finishing up some costumes for the magi (my rank was mate server) to go out and have some fun under the protection of the lodge, and a notification came in about the Dragon Ball themed event. One of the guys on the team had been finishing his Nappa cosplay, and I suggested he could take it to that convention to give his work as a cosmaker a little more visibility.
He put together a small performance to participate in the contest, talked to some friends to help him on stage, but no one could for various reasons. I felt a little sorry for them, so the fifth time he asked if I would dress up as Goku, I said yes. It wasn't that I didn't want to, but I had never participated in a real cosplay contest at an event with a performance, during the day, and sober, too.
As soon as we arrived, we changed, and the organizers came with a camera and microphone to ask us for a video for social media. The interview consisted of a question I'd ask you too:
What wish would you make to Shen Long?
Thanks to that, they gave us coupons to exchange for prizes at the booths, so we won some milkshakes and cookies! We didn't have a penny, so it was perfect timing.

Look at those little lovely bags!
We signed up to go on stage and left the video for the audio projection since there wasn't a screen. We were the fourth to go up when they called us after the karaoke, the auction, and the contest. My partner gave an incredible performance; he practically goes on stage and transforms into whatever character he's playing. I'm always amazed when I see him. As for me, I've been practicing the Kamehameha since I was 8 years old... and at the one moment that matters, I mess it up! Can you believe it? I got the "ha" mixed up because it seemed too long to me... The truth is, I'd only seen the video and we hadn't practiced even once. Which I use as an excuse to avoid dying of anxiety remembering my mistake.
Anyway, it was still the best performance of the day, so a well-deserved win despite the minor details. I wasn't expecting to win; my friend was sure we'd get a spot in the top three, but he was pleasantly surprised when we weren't mentioned for third or second place. My astonished face moved the cosplayers on the jury even more.
After receiving the prize (100k cash!!) we stayed to enjoy the show by guest singer James, who performs opening and ending themes for well-known anime. I couldn't take any pictures because I didn't have my phone with me, but luckily my friend Ana took some with her @pinkcell

We took lots of pictures with people strolling by, like an impromptu Dragon Ball team. It was an afternoon full of pleasant and unexpected surprises, and the second time I wore the most iconic costume from the anime, which makes me very happy. Sometimes you just need to break out of your own mental mold a little and play from a different perspective. Going on stage (without rehearsing) is overwhelming, but knowing that I supported my friend by accompanying him in what he loves, and that sharing that helps him a lot, is incredibly rewarding.
And we even received an award for it, confirming the theory that everything has its reward.
Thanks for reading!
Postscript: Nappa's armor and Goku's wig and boots were made by him. @martin.arion

The part about performing it while sober was what increased the level of difficulty 😆

In my experience, most things get better after a few beers 😆 Maybe not for the people watching though 🤣
I'm not much of a dancer, but I'd gladly be watching you perform it 👀
