Teachers on the go: Feeding and Reading Program

Hello, my dear Hive friends, how are you today? Feeling good? I hope you are doing fine every day. Just keep pushing, there will be better days ahead.

It was Friday afternoon when we had a brief conversation with our colleagues at school. Talking of something good to do on the weekends. This school year is about to end, and it was our commitment that we would conduct a reading and feeding program at the same time for selected learners of a certain barangay. We were discussing because we don't have any plans yet due to the hectic schedules we have.

After speaking with the chosen barangay, we also discussed the food to be prepared and who would be responsible for preparing it. It was a lot of work to do, but because everyone enjoyed doing it, the work became bearable. We share resources for the food to be cooked, and I'm glad my colleagues did not hesitate to contribute and are very willing to go about the plans.

On the day of the activity, we went to my colleague's house to cook spaghetti for the kids and rice porridge for the parents and some attendees. It was a hot afternoon, but despite the sun's heat, we were very happy cooking and preparing the food packs.

We packed all the spaghetti and bread, paired with juice for easy distribution to the kids, but for the rice porridge, because it's very hot, we just bought some cups during distribution.

We arrived at exactly 3:00 in the afternoon, the kids were ready, and our books were also prepared ahead of time in the venue. The kids were very eager to sit on the chairs and listen to the instructions given. When we started to group them with the different teacher-tutors, they were all eager to answer the questions.

They were grouped according to the level and age. Some teachers go to a higher level, while others are also assigned to learners who are just beginners. It was a fun-filled day with a lot of learning gained from the short tutorial time. Seeing them with great smiles on their faces is a fulfillment for us.

When we do it with open hearts, though it was supposedly a family day because it was a rest day for everyone, we insisted, and doing it together is one of the happiest results we've ever seen.

After an hour of talking and sharing with our dear learners, we gave them the food we had prepared. They were very happy and excited at the same time. While parents were also assisting their kids, they were also given a cup of porridge. Sharing our blessings, even in a small amount, is an overwhelming delight to others. We're blessed to see the smiles of the young kids who are participating in the activity.

After the reading and feeding program activity, we head home to our family. It was a wonderful day for everyone. The acceptance of one another is overwhelming.
