First you do good because you don’t want someone to come after you.

Then you “do unto others”

Then you build faith in goodness of whatever you believe in…whether that’s god, humanity, the universe or something else.

Then at some point your faith becomes so great that you literally feel sick at the thought of anything that ultimately works against goodness and you just do good without thinking about it.

and that's the level of good I have to push to get to, when I just do good by nature. I think that kind of a person is what we really refer to when we say a good person
