Tired Typing and Tunes
It's been a rather tiring and stressful week. My mother has a school and due to lack of personnel and the stupid cost of hiring from outside, we of the family have been pitching in when and where we can.
In the sense, since it's exam period, I've been helping her type and typing 12 subjects for Pre-Nursery to JSS3 is quite a load of work.
12 subjects for 12 classes, thousands of words and tens of hours.
Been at it for 4 days and I'm just about to finish, with gnawing back pain from bending over the laptop for so long but meh...
Needless to say, that while doing such a monotonous job such as typing, music has been my partner.
Indeed I've finished 5 albums and 2 playlists and from there I'd simply pick one song.
- Wake Up ~ NF
NF is not a regular listen for me, but when I do listen, it's always a lovely experience.
His rhyme scheme, the tome, sounds, music and most of all the meaning behind his words is something that makes him exceptional in the hip-hop industry.
Wake Up is a song from his EP titled NF and his first Studio album Mansion. In this song, he talks about how some people can't appreciate the good in life, notice their wins or fix their mistakes because they're still sleeping. Blaming their woes on God and seperates the happiness from life given by him.
It's quite a somber listen.
- Father Time ~ Kendrick Lamar ft Sampha
At this point, I believe it's a given that I listened to Kendrick Lamar. One of my favorite of his albums was Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. In this album, Kendrick treats us the audience as therapists and goes on to unload his years of baggage. Letting go and reconciling his diverse views on race, sexuality, gender, addiction, generational curses and cancel culture and my favorite song from this therapy session is Father Time.
This song is one I feel every boy should listen to. Kendrick talks about the long ingrained toxic masculinity that is passed on from generation to generation. It is sometimes passed from a father who is present, or from the sheer absence of a father figure.
He goes on deeper, talking about his struggles with his father, then talks about his mental health and how "daddy issues" is a reason for the gang culture in young youth black communities.
- Trae the Truth in Ibiza ~ J.Cole ft Trae that Truth
This song is one that I still don't know how it became so much of an earworm for me. It is a dope track though, something moving and inspirational as J.cole usually is.
It's just that Might Delete Later isn't really my best album of his, yet I'm starting to understand, like and even get addicted to more and more of the songs from there.
In Trae the Truth in Ibiza, Jcole reflects on his work ethic and hunger for success. Going as far as to noting the difference between being hungry and being desperate. He talks about the trials of fame and strides for perfection in the music industry, encouraging folks to embrace imperfection.
He appreciates his teams importance in his journey and expresses his gratitude for their impact.
In a way this song is a reflection on his journey and a declaration of his continued perseverance and authenticity ✨
When typing and listening to music, the music sounds better in a way. There were a lot of songs, but I managed to choose just these 3 for my entry into @ablaze's initiative #threetunestuesday.
Thanks for reading ✨.

You're awesome for helping your Mom. Hope the typing has been completed and you are now enjoying other things. First time listening to these tunes you shared, but I like them. It's nice when the lyrics are meaningful.
It has and I'm drained...
Too drained...
Kendrick is my favorite. The last performance at the Super Bowl is outstanding
Thank you so much
