The Whispering Skull Book Review 💀 [ENG/ESP]
My reading habits leave much to be desired, yet despite its obvious issues, one thing that I can say is that once I start a book or a series, I without a doubt intend on finishing it. Especially if it's a series that I like.
The Lockwood and Co series is something I was referred to because of a bookclub I joined on a whim..
Love my whimsical decisions...
And since the first adventure with The Screaming Staircase, the thrills just get better and better!!
Lockwood and Co: The Whispering Skull 💀
Plot
Lockwood, Lucy and George are invited to Mallory end to stop the ghost of an executed prisoner who's come to hunt a preschool. The ghost catching, like most of their operations grows complicated and unstable and just as Lucy is about to be ghost touched they were saved by their enemies and rivals Quill Kipps and his team from the Fittes Agency. Their meeting quickly turns sour and to end their grievances once and for all, a bet was made to see which was the better ghost catcher.
As if planned, the very next day there was a job that both teams from the different agency were assigned to and thus the bet had begun.
Yet Lockwood and Co had to be careful, because this knew ghost isn't one to be trifled with, if not for anything, for the very fact that it made their usual mute type 3 ghost in a bottle very talkative and that it's history was as evil as it was bloody.
How would I describe a Jonathan Stroud book?
Full of wit, humor and unbelievable cleverness that'll leave your brain in awe and you writing down the lines and memorizing how they're said so you can recite later on.
If it's not the same for all his books, at the very least this one was filled with humor.
And as usual, George was on the receiving end.
Well he does make it easy😂✨
This book had more than wit and humor though, in this show we got an insight on how Jonathan draws his reader into the story with his descriptions.
The characters are colorful. That much can be gotten from what they say and how they act, get what they look like is something else all together.
We get a view of them from Lucy's perspective and it makes the reading a lot more worthwhile.
The ability to build tension too.
Not all thriller writers have that ability when writing a story, most of them have to rely on the horror bit when one can be left on the hedge of their seat just reading about a punch glass is in a library and George is stuck under the table.

Yet I believe above all, the one thing truly spectacular about this book is it's plot.
The idea of the bone glass was so well written for a pre teens book that I'm just amazed at the simplicity of it.
Although it's making, handling and using is a ghastly process with numerous deaths involved. The lore behind it was so solid that I just had to applaud.
I guess in summary, all I have to say is that the second book of the Lockwood & Co series is a must read for all lovers of the thriller genre.
It's target demographic is young teens but I believe that this book is one that'll grab the interest of all age ranges.
All in all, I completely, wholeheartedly recommend ✨
ESPANOL
Me encantan mis decisiones caprichosas...
Lockwood and Co: La Calavera Susurrante 💀
Sinopsis

This was such a fun review to read. Even though I haven’t read The Whispering Skull (or the series), you’ve definitely piqued my interest! I love books with witty writing and strong character dynamics, and it sounds like this one has plenty of both.
