The Silver Egyptian Queen 👑

Well this is embarrassing...

I found a coin that was fabulous, simply stunning to add to my African series and had even started writing the post, while writing I realized that there was a slight hiccup about this coin.
After spending some days, deliberating if I should still post it like that, I decided yes. Even with the hiccup, it still qualifies to be part of the series...
So here the post goes....

Egypt has been through a lot this AFCON season. After losing their star player to a wicked tackle so early into the competition, the national team have been drawing all through, managing to reach the elimination round by a snare.
Well they've been eliminated with penalty so now the dream of getting the AFCON gold this year has been snatched.
Regardless, they won my personal coin draw and I found some Silver from them😀.

Egypt 1oz Silver Cleopatra & Julius Caesar

This particular coin is a beauty 😍

This 1 Oz coin was minted by the country of Niue (see the hiccup) in the New Zealand Mint, and it was dedicated to Africas Egypt, using the image of the ever poplar and famous Queen Cleopatra.
It's part of the powerful Women in History series and it's quite rare, with just 2000 pieces minted.
Queen Cleopatra has such a unique and interesting history which I don't have the time, nor energy to write down for y'all 😂.
She was a political genius and the last Pharoah of Egypt before it became Romanized.
A lover of 2 men, while married to another --> which was all the rage for female rulers in those times😉
And a genuine patriot, as all she did was for the sake of restoring her country to it's former glory.
Alas, when her plans had failed and the end seemed close at hand, she decided that the only person who could kill her was she and committed the most epic suicide one of those times could ever commit.
Death from the bite of a venomous snake. --> A suicide which surely was unfathomably painful, but still rather iconic.
Her lover at the time also committed suicide (couples goals 🥺✨)

As one can see, this is pure silver right here, and although the coin isn't from African descent, it does pay an African homage, hence it would be part of the African Coins Series

This coin at the moment is going for 106 dollars, so it's best you get it now before it skyrockets!!!

so, anywhere around the med is liminal, a place that is a bridge, a border, between the people of the interior and those from the other side of the water.

Egypt is Africa, but Cleopatra was Ptolemaic. Her forebears were Greek, Ptolemy Lagus being one of Alexander's generals.

She may have not looked like Elizabeth Taylor, she may not have looked exactly like the coin, but she was as Egyptian as Queen Elizabeth was English despite her German forebears.

As an Egyptian Queen Cleopatra was African, and an African Queen who dominated the major empire of the day.

Couple goals indeed.
She really took her own life because her plans failed,I don’t know if I should hail her do otherwise for giving up so easily

Well the failure of her plan led her kingdom to be ravaged by the Romans.
If she was alive, she would probably be raped quite violently by the army and then killed.

So I guess it's a choice of choosing your death
