Search for Rare Money π°
A few weeks back, me and one of my friends struck up a conversation about our countries currency.
It went through a change recently and majority of the old notes were withdrawn so as to print a fresh new note with a jew feel and look.
The purpose of that was to help somehow boost the economy but of course it didn't workπ
Our conversation didn't dwell on that part though. It went further and became based on the rarity and collecting value of the old notes which were withdrawn.
Of course the withdrawal happened recently, about a year ago and it wasn't exactly so strict but it is a fact now that those notes are notes of the old and they are noticeably being used less and less in cash transactions.
Further on, there are notes of low denominations which are hardly used again because of how high the cost of everything has been brought up.
We dubbed em, 'High Collector's Value Due to Economic Calamity'ππ
Of course the name is factored to change later onπ.
The idea of rare money is a currency that is scarce, rare or hard to find and such fetch a high price in the collector's market.
It's quite a nice hobby that goes hand in hand with silver stacking.
The crazy fact is that rare money is sometimes unknown and some if extremely lucky can be gotten for free during a purchase of an item.
There are a lot of things that can make a currency rare.
- Limited Mintage or withdrawal from circulation.
- Special edition currencies.
- Mintage or Printing mistakes.
- Ancient or Historic Coins
- Coins from countries which no longer exist or have been replaced with another currency...
There are other factors which may influence a currency's rarity but these are the fundamental factors.
A while ago, almost a year now, I posted about my owning of some currency's which fall into the rarity department here on hive -->My prized Coin Collection.
Well just yesterday, due to the generosity of one of my friends, I managed to increase the collection.
You can read the above post to see the old pieces of the collection and here I'll list the new entries.
One of the 2 Euro Coin from Slovenia
This coin albeit being foreign isn't a rare one. Infact, as I've read online, it is quite common.
Pityπ
The 2 Euro Coin from Slovenia is like the other Euro coins except for the pictorial change at the back which holds a depiction of King Matjaz Koroen aka Mathew Korvin, the once Hungurian King and Emperor of the Roman Empire.
He is wearing a fur lined coat and a feathered hat which I first mistook as a Native-American headdress but is actually a Traditional Hungarian Hat.
Two of the 2 Pesewas Coin from Ghana
First of...
@abenad, you're welcome to buy back your coin from me at the cheap price of 10 HBD πβ¨
This coin is a simple denomination of the Ghanaian Cedi. Worth even less than the 2 Euro I'm afraid. In the normal value and in rarity.
Quite an interesting design of the Ghana coat of arms and an open book probably to promote education in the country.
Five of the 2 Naira Coin
These is the real rare money π€π°
A limited mintage, already withdrawn from the public, old currency that was minted to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Nigerian 4th Republic with a picture of the National Assembly at the back.
It was minted in 2006 and lost its appeal and Nigeria changed to notes in 2008.
A decade and a half later, this coin with a face value of two naira is now worth from fifty to two hundred dollars.
And I have five πβ¨
It's my bad camera that hides it but it's actually of a pretty good quality despite its age.
The most I can do is give it a bit of polishing and I could sell them at 150-200$ a pop.
Yep, I'm feeling pretty fly about now πβ¨.
I have no intention of selling them anytime soon though. These kind of things appreciate with time and so I can see its current value triple or quadruple with the years to come.
That rounds up the coins but there are some other things I wanna show.
Currently I'm saving up on some mint notes which are slowly losing value.
The twenty, ten and five naira notes.
These notes aren't worth anything but with the constant rate and rise of prices in our country these low denominations have currently become almost worthless.
Their hardly used in transactions of any kind and are quite rare to just see in anybody's wallet.
Not like I've been snooping in someone's wallet or anything ππ
Well just recently, I found some in a trouser that I haven't used in quite a long time and their still mint!!
I'd give them 3-5 more years before they become full blown collectibles... And by then.
Well I'd be ready with a full fat wad of cash in mint β¨

Well, I am in Argentina as I already publish that. If you don't wish to publish where you live contact me privately. I don't have WAX. I don't know if that is a chat app or social media. I do have Discord and Telegram. Tell me about WAX.
Ohhh, I'm in Nigeria π
We don't really do post around here (as far as I know of) ππ
Been a bit busy, but I will check around.
I am guessing the costs are pretty high. Probably best we stick to paper notes
I don't know much about WAX nor know why you think I know about it π
You can ask @l337m45732 though...
You have an address in your profile. π€
Why yes...
I ended up opening a wax wallet so i could earn GM tokens from @gmfrens bot on #inleo threads.
For some reason, the guy whose name I edited on the tag in my previous comment didn't tag so I'll tag your name to a comment of his.
He is the owner of the gmtoken which runs on hive and wax .
From the little I know, the wax Blockchain is a gaming Blockchain though.
I don't know much about WAX nor know why you think I know about it π
You can ask @0xNifty.nft though...
