Riptide GP 2 Game Review 🌊🎮
I dare to say that I've re-founded my love in simple offline games.
After a few hours of a few days of playing, I'm hooked!!
Well, as hooked as my school and busy schedule would allow me to😂
Last time I talked about Mountain Bike Riding. Well as fun and invigorating as that was, my dopamine levels hungered for something a little bit more.
A little bit faster and in an environment that is controlled yet out of our control.
That's when I remembered an old school nostalgic little biy cyberpunk water racing game that I played back when I was in my primary school.
Riptide GP 2🌊🎮
Now I have no ideas what GP means😂, till this review, I didn't even know that was part of the name.
I always called it Riptide Racing or RT racing for short.
Anyways, this game has got me hooked!!!
Not because of lovely adventures or eye stabbing graphics.
Naaaa...
It's just effing fun!!
Riptide racing is quite an easy to read game.
Water racing using a hyper hydro jet, with three modes.
- Classic Race
- Beat The Clock
- Elimination.
From all my arcade racing game experiences, those are some of the three basic modes.
Like I said before, not much thought was put into the games workings. Heck, maybe not much thought was meant to be put in as the developers may have simply wanted it to be just an arcade game and didn't want to overstep and add things that may make the game too bulky and overcomplicated.
The idea of the game is simple, get to the finish line, using skills to give yourself boosts and get to the finish line first.
Of course, that is for race against the clock, up against other players and characters, one could use sabotage to win (。•̀ᴗ-)✧
The major wins for this game are the graphics, world building and physics.
As for the graphics, from my previous and future screenshots, you may notice that this game did a fabulous job for it's size.
For a game made in 2013, these futuristic graphics and ideas are quite impressive.
The world building used when making the courses are even more impressive 🔥
Different locations with different weathers and different advantages and disadvantages.
I haven't cleared the game yet so I'm still discovering new floors, but the ones I've discovered so far are super!
With my sudden reinterest in games and game reviews, I've picked up a few terms and their meanings and how they are interact in a game.
One of the most recent is game physics, how the game interprets the laws of the real world in its world.
This game's physics is quite something, the water is way too bouncy, almost as though its more air than water and the rider can't slip or fall of unless he lands before finishing a skill.
Personally, I think that this makes the game easier as well as harder.
Due to the water's bounciness, it can easily become a nuisance amd hindrance for you when trying to accelerate with boost.
Players need to calibrate themselves well less they stand ths risk of veering of course, hitting the walls and getting slowed down even more.
Thus the physics, albeit annoying makes the game not to be too easy, yet not hard enough that players would become frustrated.
It's a lovely game, one that I intend to finish.
I'll leave you with the video of a gameplay so you can see the game in action!
This game was very famous when it came out. People used to benchmark their androids based on how smoothly they played this game. It had impressive graphics and physics for its time.
