Japa.
A term that all Nigerians, despite their financial background is familiar with.
Japa meaning to run.
To run away from trouble.
Trouble meaning our country.

The idea of immigration is an ideas that every Nigerian has fancied, dreamt and or attempted.
In actuality, the air, feel and sound of the western continents is alluring to at the very least seventy percent of African's.
Why even @abenad attempted to switch with her cousin for a trip to Europe.
Her village people foiled the plan though😂

For me, I've always wanted to travel to far away lands. Experience the snow of Canada and the summers of Iceland, sadly, the opportunity hasn't yet shown itself.

Immigration is a delicate subject in our country, at least to the people around me.
Everyone has tried for a visa at least once and all has horror stories to tell...

"horrible woman with her stupid questions."
"What does she mean *'I look like someone who doesn't plan to come back'? When one escapes a hell like this, would they want to revisit?..."

That's one of the most notable complaints regarding the Visa office that I have heard.
I do have a Visa though, at least I did, back in 2011, when I visited Dubai for medical reasons.
Way back then things were easier, the world was calmer, money was way less expensive, life was good.
I have good memories of that journey and visit despite I being so young.

Well, that was such a long time ago, more than a decade, and right now it's quite hard to even get a visa to fly out of my country, then after that the money needed to stay wherever you immigrated to is dreadful.
I have two friends who are abroad in studies, one in Canada and another in the Caribbeans, two of them in the medical department, two of them consistently complaining about money rate.

Nigeria's pricing is dreadful, yes. Everything is going up. Inflation happens in other countries except maybe not in the same rate.
The worst bit for those abroad is that as their prices there are increasing too, Nigerian's currency value is dropping, so the amount of money the parents here need to send to them over there is increasing.

In Nigeria, it can be said that "Sapa fit still book international flight reach you for wherever you dey."

Despite the jokes, it is truly depressing. It wasn't just two of my friends who were abroad for schooling, but so many have come back or decided to leave it because of the amount of money needed.
Even without the money, immigration laws are getting stricter and stricter, sometimes with good reason too as immigrants can cause major problems to a country. It can be seen in the news what was happening in England.

My thoughts about immigration and traveling are mixed, my emotions are bittersweet, moving between countries regardless of the time and period is a big decisions to make.
Such the country that one is moving to has to be thought through.
Y'all can come to Nigeria and possibly lose your wealth for a rad and awesome back throat sense of humor though 😂✨

Un término que todos los nigerianos, a pesar de su situación económica, conocen.
Japa significa huir.
Huir de los problemas.
Problemas significa nuestro país.

La idea de la inmigración es una idea que todos los nigerianos han imaginado, soñado o intentado.
En realidad, el aire, la sensación y el sonido de los continentes occidentales son atractivos para al menos el setenta por ciento de los africanos.
Por eso incluso @abenad intentó viajar con su prima a Europa.
Pero la gente de su aldea frustró el plan😂

Siempre quise viajar a tierras lejanas. Experimentar la nieve de Canadá y los veranos de Islandia, pero lamentablemente la oportunidad aún no se ha presentado.

La inmigración es un tema delicado en nuestro país, al menos para la gente que me rodea.
Todos han intentado obtener una visa al menos una vez y todos tienen historias de terror que contar...

"Una mujer horrible con sus preguntas estúpidas".
"¿Qué quiere decir con *'Parezco alguien que no planea regresar'? Cuando uno escapa de un infierno como este, ¿querría volver a visitarlo?..."

Esa es una de las quejas más notables sobre la oficina de visas que he escuchado.
Sin embargo, tengo una visa, al menos la tenía en 2011, cuando visité Dubái por razones médicas.
En aquel entonces, las cosas eran más fáciles, el mundo estaba más tranquilo, el dinero era mucho más barato y la vida era buena.
Tengo buenos recuerdos de ese viaje y de esa visita a pesar de ser tan joven.

Bueno, eso fue hace mucho tiempo, más de una década, y ahora mismo es bastante difícil incluso obtener una visa para volar fuera de mi país, y después de eso, el dinero necesario para quedarse donde sea que hayas emigrado es terrible.
Tengo dos amigos que están estudiando en el extranjero, uno en Canadá y otro en el Caribe, dos de ellos en el departamento médico, dos de ellos quejándose constantemente del tipo de cambio del dinero.

Los precios en Nigeria son terribles, sí. Todo está subiendo. La inflación ocurre en otros países, aunque tal vez no al mismo ritmo.
Lo peor para quienes están en el extranjero es que, como sus precios allí también están aumentando, el valor de la moneda nigeriana está cayendo, por lo que la cantidad de dinero que los padres aquí necesitan enviarles allá está aumentando.

En Nigeria, se puede decir que "Sapa todavía puede reservar vuelos internacionales para que te lleven a donde sea que estés".

A pesar de las bromas, es realmente deprimente. No eran solo dos de mis amigos los que estaban en el extranjero estudiando, sino que muchos han regresado o han decidido irse debido a la cantidad de dinero que se necesita.
Incluso sin el dinero, las leyes de inmigración son cada vez más estrictas, a veces con buenas razones, ya que los inmigrantes pueden causar grandes problemas a un país. Se puede ver en las noticias lo que estaba sucediendo en Inglaterra.

Mis pensamientos sobre la inmigración y los viajes son contradictorios, mis emociones son agridulces, mudarse de un país a otro sin importar el tiempo y el período es una gran decisión que tomar.
Por eso, hay que pensar bien en el país al que uno se muda.
Sin embargo, pueden venir a Nigeria y posiblemente perder su riqueza por un sentido del humor genial y genial 😂✨
