Flow Movie Review

Just by chance, I happened to look at the Golden globe award list. Literally happened on a stroke of boredom, because award shows for movies and musicians are something I hardly ever watch.
Regardless I did see the last one and this movie interested me, so I decided to download it and check it out.

Flow

Plot

Cat is a simple animal, one who just wants to stay by himself, surrounded by drawings of him by his owner in the abandoned house, away from other animals and troubles.
Yet after the world is wrecked by a catastrophic flood, Cat is forced to learn to go with the flow and work with these animals in order to survive.

Now I'll be honest, this movie is quite something.
I've watched a number of animated movies and this one left me feeling quite different.
The main yardstick in this movie is the touch of realism and at the same time, the magical essence added.
The movie is set in a world where humans are extinct. As such, these animals are just that.. animals.
Meaning there's no talking, singing or quadrupeds suddenly becoming bipeds. These are just animals who are being filmed.
At such every hint and message from the story gotten from the viewer is gotten from the animals body movements, and their reactions to different phenomena.

I think the absence of voices really forces us to pay attention to the movie. We are looking, hearing and searching for a hint to further cement our understanding of what's going on in the cat's head.
It was a wonderfully new experience for me.

Even if we ignore this animated movies peculiar trait of no voices, there are still the wondrous views to be had.
The view of everything changes as these animals on their single boat sail across the world, we notice different humans buildings, wonders, and civilizations from a differ perspective due to the flood. The immersive scenes and character design really makes this show movie stand out.

The movie isn't one I can truly explain, because it's quite complex. I feel the general idea is for the viewer to just go with the flow and try and glean whatever understanding they can when and where they can.

Simply like cat who learned to let go of his past and try his best to be more open on what life can be and the different options it can have.
I give this movie an 8 out of 10 and I recommend it for those who are the least bit interested in it. The main idea might be a bit too complex for kids but it's fun to watch too.😂✨

I'm going to watch it now. I've been told I can't miss it and now you say you can't explain it and that it left you thoughtful... enough for me to take the time.
Thank you.

Okay, your review is good, pretty compelling, I’ll give this movie one more try. I hope I look beyond its boring surface and enjoy it for what it is. But, come to think of it, animals do make sounds. Don’t they?

Yep.

The cat meows, the dog barks and the lemur squeaks...

Now that is something different! It's tempting to see what kind of experience it gives but not today. Maybe when boredom strikes, I'll give it a go.😅 Thanks for your review

I would see this movie with my little one just to see what she makes out of it.
