Does first class truly matter?

I catch myself asking this question more and more frequently the past few years.

Ever since highschool-no since primary school, it has been drilled in my head that parallel A's and a CGPA of 5.0 is all an individual needs to be successful and make it in life.
Yet as I grow older and go further on in life I realize just how untrue and unrealistic those teachings actually were.
Now don't get me wrong, the idea of parallel A's are totally realistic and doable...

Unless like me, you're in a Federal school studying one of the most cursed courses with the most pained lecturers..

If you're in the above quoted criteria, then I totally understand if your results is filled with letters corresponding to the keys of a piano.

A high graduating average is actually important. It's a mark of prestige and an oath of your academic intelligence and knowledge.
Yet in the real world, one would quickly realize that academic intelligence and knowledge isn't all there is.

I once asked a question in secondary school which got me sent out of class.
It was meant to be a jibe to my teacher as I was well equipped with my wittiness.
She was trying to encourage us to study hard for our WAEC exams and brought the standard "Read your books, get high grades and be successful speech."
I then asked her about the folks who dropped out from school and became successful, the people who didn't go to school in the first place but were successful. In summary, I asked about those who embarked on business ideas, pursuits of talents and dreams, learning of skills and using them well.

It was a rather short back and forth battle of words between us and I ended it with quoting the fact that those who study and get high grades have an 80% more chance of being employed by those who didn't study, who didn't necessarily excel im school but were successful.
She didn't really appreciate that quoted fact and I spent a couple of weeks spending punishment by cutting grass due to insubordination.

Back then it was just a fact that I read from a blog, now I realize just how true it is. Now I realize just how close to home the fact may have hit her, a 1st class graduate of biochemistry teaching chemistry in a highschool.
My title of this post is the question of wether school is a scam.
The answer that I have come across is that it's a scam in some countries, it's a scam to some people, it's a scam in some situations.
In my country, education is seen undoubtedly as a scam by plenty.
What's the point of studying over 6 years in medicine if when you finally come out you'd have no job or the job would be inhumane?
Why stress yourself as an individual when you know deep down that it's all for naught.
Isn't it better to be thinking of ways you could make money?

The topic of education to me in my current state of mind is as plentiful as it is minimal. I could stay and talk so much more on why one should drop out now.
With the furthering of technology and AI, so many courses and departments are increasingly becoming obsolete.
The education system is in it's last legs, would human doctors really be needed in the next fifty to hundred years from now?
Wouldn't we all be patients?
What about waiters and those in the service industries. Their jobs are already being taken from them.

Formal education was pivotal to man's constant improvement, it's something that can't ever be forgotten, yet I believe that slowly, it's losing its relevance. Just another of man's improvement perhaps.

¿Realmente importa la primera clase?

Me sorprendo a mí misma haciendo esta pregunta cada vez con más frecuencia en los últimos años.

Desde la secundaria, no, desde la primaria, me han inculcado que una persona necesita una nota media de 5,0 y una media de notas de 10,5 es todo lo que necesita para tener éxito y triunfar en la vida.
Sin embargo, a medida que me hago mayor y avanzo en la vida, me doy cuenta de lo falsas y poco realistas que eran esas enseñanzas.
No me malinterpretes, la idea de las A paralelas es totalmente realista y factible...

A menos que, como yo, estés en una escuela federal estudiando uno de los cursos más malditos con los profesores más molestos...

Si cumples con los criterios citados anteriormente, entonces entiendo perfectamente que tus resultados estén llenos de letras que corresponden a las teclas de un piano.

Un alto promedio de graduación es realmente importante. Es una marca de prestigio y un juramento de tu inteligencia y conocimiento académicos.
Sin embargo, en el mundo real, uno se daría cuenta rápidamente de que la inteligencia y el conocimiento académicos no son todo lo que hay.

Una vez hice una pregunta en la escuela secundaria que me hizo salir de clase.
La intención era burlarme de mi maestra, ya que yo tenía un gran ingenio.
Ella estaba tratando de alentarnos a estudiar mucho para nuestros exámenes WAEC y usó el discurso estándar de "Lee tus libros, obtén buenas calificaciones y tendrás éxito".
Luego le pregunté sobre las personas que abandonaron la escuela y tuvieron éxito, las personas que no fueron a la escuela en primer lugar, pero tuvieron éxito. En resumen, le pregunté sobre aquellos que se embarcaron en ideas comerciales, en la búsqueda de talentos y sueños, en el aprendizaje de habilidades y su buen uso.

Fue una batalla de palabras bastante corta entre nosotros y la terminé citando el hecho de que aquellos que estudian y obtienen buenas calificaciones tienen un 80% más de posibilidades de ser empleados por aquellos que no estudiaron, que no necesariamente se destacaron en la escuela pero tuvieron éxito.
Ella realmente no apreció ese hecho citado y pasé un par de semanas pagando el castigo de cortar el césped debido a la insubordinación.

En aquel entonces era solo un hecho que leí en un blog, ahora me doy cuenta de lo cierto que es. Ahora me doy cuenta de lo cerca que puede haber estado de casa el hecho, una graduada de primera clase de bioquímica que enseña química en una escuela secundaria.
El título de este artículo es la pregunta de si la escuela es una estafa.
La respuesta con la que me he encontrado es que es una estafa en algunos países, es una estafa para algunas personas, es una estafa en algunas situaciones.
En mi país, la educación es vista sin duda como una estafa por muchos.
¿Qué sentido tiene estudiar más de 6 años en medicina si cuando finalmente salgas no tendrás trabajo o el trabajo será inhumano?
¿Por qué estresarte como individuo cuando en el fondo sabes que todo es en vano?
¿No es mejor pensar en formas en las que podrías ganar dinero?

El tema de la educación para mí en mi estado mental actual es tan abundante como mínimo. Podría quedarme y hablar mucho más sobre por qué uno debería abandonar la escuela ahora.
Con el avance de la tecnología y la IA, muchos cursos y departamentos se están volviendo cada vez más obsoletos.
El sistema educativo está en sus últimas etapas, ¿realmente se necesitarán médicos humanos en los próximos cincuenta a cien años?
¿No seríamos todos pacientes?
¿Qué pasa con los camareros y los que trabajan en las industrias de servicios? Ya les están quitando sus puestos de trabajo.

La educación formal fue fundamental para el mejoramiento constante del hombre, es algo que nunca se puede olvidar, pero creo que poco a poco está perdiendo su relevancia. Tal vez sea solo otro avance más del hombre.
