Columbus Movie Review

When thinking of what to watch today a slow fuse romance wasn't what I had in mind.
Regardless, I vividly remembered the Instagram clip that made me to download this movie and the philosophy of that particular conversation moved me, now here I am, 30 minutes after finishing the movie, and wondering if by chance my Instagram Movie luck has finished.

Columbus

Plot.

When a famed Korean architect falls into a coma his self estranged son is forced to come visit him in Columbia, Indiana. While there, he meets a young woman who loves architecture and has dreams and opportunities in traveling abroad to study it, yet chooses to stay in the state with her mother who's a recovering addict.

I'll just be frank, I don't this is a bad show. The ratings and reviews all scream great and fantastic and the lowest is an 8 out of 10 so it's clearly not a good show.
I'm just saying, it's most likely not the best show for me.

The slow burn romance trope is not one I regularly watch, to be more exact it's one that I hardly even come across 😂.
I hated it even more so because this one somehow felt unfulfilled. The fact that they didn't end up together left me who had finally actually started getting into the movie feeling dissatisfied.

Then again, it's possible that this movie was never centered on their relationship. I feel that although it's a major theme, it's not the only theme.
This is just my speculation but maybe this movie is just one of the many films about life.

Life as it can be... Challenging, stressful, invigorating and heartbreaking.
The idea of a small state, the main character being a lass who just barely turned an adult by age but has been forced to be one since childhood due to her irresponsible mother.

To me, I feel the movie is about life and courage. We see how Casey is forced to choose between her mother and her own dreams and Jin is introduced to help her make that decision.
Help her walk through the dissaray and weather the storm.

I feel that's the main aim of the movie; life, love, chaos, trust, art.
That's the reason it's in Columbus, that's the reason the chaos was so realistic, the love felt unfulfilled and the movie was loved so much. So many loose ends because as art and life is concerned, no one truly knows how it'll end. Yet we love it anyway.

I give the movie an 8 out of 10 rating though. I didn't enjoy it as much yet I did understand it, or I felt I did.
Loved the scenes too, felt so serene and peaceful to look at the many architectural beauties shown in the movie. It's just superb ✨
