Castlevania Review

Anime is a genre of the television industry that has come to stay.
It's so different when in the last decade it was only a few people in a school of 100 that knew about anime in the western and down south where I am. Yet now some schools in my country even have anime clubs.. It's so surreal...

I feel that the main cause was the fact that anime became mainstream and then streaming services that were popular down here started taking some of them...
Some like Netflix went a step further and started making their own shows...

...And that's how we got a gem like Castlevania...

Castlevania

Plot

The early Christians and church have become too conceited, humans too numerous and due to their fears and easily swayed minds they've become too ignorant.
Dracula Vlad Tepes, leader of the Vampires is a scholar, magician and scientist who lives isolated in a moving castle. When he meets Lisa, a human, and made her his wife, she made him try to look at humans in a different light, try to be with them, understand them.
He followed her advice and this wasn't able to protect her when the humans stormed his home and burned his wife Lisa at the stake under accusations of witchcraft.
Enraged, Dracula raises hell to start a mass genocide of the human race and now it's up to his son Alucard, the hunter Trevor Belmont and the mage Sipha to stop his rampage and send hell's creatures back to whence they came.

This is quite an old anime, yet I'm just watching it now.
Its old enough to have a side story which fans are all saying is "incredible" and "stupendous" but I don't think I'll watch it.

In my years of watching anime and movie shows I'm general, I have a strict rule of not following the crowds advice when watching a show.
Six out of ten times, when like everybody is saying a show is good, to me, it usually isn't...
Yet the hype about the slideshow Nocturne did make me interested in the original series.

And Lord am I glad I started it when I did.

The show is a straight 9 out of 10. There's so many things good about it that at this point I can just say that the whole show is good.

First of all we have the plot. A mixture of action, romance, politics, and some religious themes gives us this mix match Assassins Creed X Game of Thrones type of show that just keeps you glued to your screens till it finishes.

Then we get to talk with the characters. We have the broody Belmont, the aloof Alucard and the poppy a little bit crazy Sipha. A wonderful mixture of characters to keep the dialogue as naturally funny as possible.
The exchange of witty remarks and friendly to not so friendly banter keeps the dialogue interesting then the way the characters just find a way to let yourself into you makes you love them even more.

Next thing we need to talk about is the animation.
Netflix overdid themselves. Well they have had some amazing shows lately but it won't make me easily forget what they did when the first started with Seven Deadly Sins😭

Regardless this shows animations were something else!!!
The fight scenes slick and clean, then the effects where unbelievable.
If you're a lover of the vampire genre, I totally recommend Castlevania✨

I really liked this anime. I watched it because it was recommended to me a long time ago, and I was quite entertained by the first few seasons. The level of quality, fluidity, action, and uncensored rawness is top-notch. Their characters are also well developed, although they don't have much depth to speak of. Of all the dark fantasy and action anime I've seen, this is one of my favorites, without a doubt.

Good review.

Castlevania is a gem. Although the adaptation has marked differences to the original story. The studio that adapted it did an excellent job, and I dare say that it has been one of the best in every way.

Haven't tried watching this yet, but the lore seems fascinating. The art style and animation also look really good. My otaku classmate had been convincing me to watch this one, he said it's amazing and I agreed just to silence him lol, but I ended up procrastinating it and soon it got buried on my ever-growing watch list haha..

Btw, thanks for sharing! This one really piqued my interest, so I'll see if I can finally watch it after I finish watching Mash.

This anime has its flaws, some things bother me more with hindsight (or at least that's what I think), but overall it's a good series and worth watching.

Yeah, every anime has a certain flaw, may it be a minor or a major one, but still it's the enjoyment that matters the most.

Yes, although both are connected. A person chooses what gives him pleasure, and these specific flaws do not bother him.

A whole work of art Castlevania, no doubt they knew how to honor the video game saga with this anime haha, truly its animation and story is amazing, all super entertaining and with unexpected events, maybe the only thing that always seemed a little boring was how the character of Dracula I feel that they wasted it, it would have been amazing to have more relevance than just in the first season but anyway it is a great anime :D

La narrativa de Drácula es tan compleja, me gusta como el anime puede explorar temas tan oscuros y humanos

This anime is amazing, it's a gem. The first time I saw it I was amazed by the animation and the gore it presents. One of my favorite video games, the adaptation is very good.

I honestly feel that Alucard in this very different from how it is originally, and that did not convince me a little, although many things also changed, but it is always important the representation of the protagonist. However, if I finished it and was otherwise amazing , it wasn't too bad. Good post! ✨

I still remember watching Castlevania when it premiered, and I watched it again when the other 2 seasons were released. It's one of those series that you can watch over and over again without getting bored.

American anime etc. is not a new idea. Neither is producing anime for the American market or adapting anime for their market (Macross, Tekkaman and others as examples). The difference is in scale, Netflix was the first to notice that it is exactly the same in other countries.

As for Castlevania, despite a few criticisms, it is generally a very good anime with a few elements that no one thought of. For example, the final fight from season 3.
