Simple Cakes, Priceless Memories! - Celebrating Our Grandma's 72nd Birthday

Happy New year to everyone here on hive! I wished you all a Blessed and prosperous new year! I'm back again to share another milestone in the family! Our grandma's 72nd Birthday! It's a simple celebration but full of love and happiness.

Recently, our beloved grandmother celebrated her 72nd birthday at home. I wasn’t able to share it right away, so I decided to tell her story before the year 2025 comes to an end, because I believe that another year holds another story. Lol!

Our Lola is a very kind and gentle person. She is the one wearing brown shirt. She speaks softly, and even when she is upset, you would hardly notice it because she has that calm and loving nature that makes everyone feel at ease. I never hear her shouted or get angry in my 7 years as their in-law. She is the only grandparents left now, as our grandfather passed away in November 2022. Although she has become a bit weak due to her age, she remains independent. Yes! She can still cook, wash the dishes, and do her own laundry. She doesn't want us to washed her clothes. She also takes care of her dogs, chickens and ducks, which keeps her active every day.

For her 72nd birthday, the celebration was simple. Her only food we prepared was two cakes. Yes, just cakes. Her children are all busy and live far from each other, so not everyone was able to come. However, they promised to make it up to her this coming New Year. This is when all her children and grandchildren will gather at her house to celebrate and welcome the new year together. This has been our tradition every New Year, and I'm sure that she will be very happy once again to see her family complete, even if only for a short time.

Those who celebrated her birthday with her were some of her children and us, her grandchildren. We prayed together, we sang her the birthday song, and she shared a short but heartfelt thank you message to us before we enjoyed the two delicious cakes bought by one of her daughters, our aunt and from our cousin, one of her grandchild.

Even though the celebration was simple, what truly mattered was her happiness and good health, this is what we always ask in prayer. Reaching 72 years old is not just a small achievement, which is why I consider this another important milestone for her and our family. Not everyone is blessed to reach such an age. I truly salute her for raising and supporting her eight children, all of them finished their studies and became professionals. Some are teachers, a police officer, and a soldier. Though there are 2 of them who choose to be farmers but they still finished their studies.

As one of her grandchildren, I love listening to her life stories because I learn some of life lesson from it. She is even a great-grandmother now, with great-grandchildren she adores. She often visits us and checks on my children especially morning, which makes me feel incredibly blessed. Having her still with us, healthy and present, is a gift we are deeply thankful for every now and then.
