Since I was a child up until now, farming has always been our main livelihood, and one of the main crops we grow is Tomatoes.

Greetings to all my fellow gardeners and farmers here on hive, most especially here @hivegarden!

It’s fun to plant and grow tomatoes, especially when the market price is high, but when it’s cheap, it can be such a big loss. Growing tomatoes required hard work and patience, from sowing the seeds up to harvesting.

Today, I’d like to share with you all our way of planting tomatoes. First we need to sow the tomato seeds. After how many days, When the seedlings are big enough for transplanting, we uproot them and let them rest for 1–2 nights in a cool area. Here in our place, we wrap them with banana leaves and place them under a banana tree. This process helps strengthen their roots before transplanting. While waiting, we prepare and till the land where they’ll be transplanted.

Once the roots have strengthened a bit, we start planting them in the toiled and loosened soil. After planting, they need to be sprinkled with water regularly, especially when it’s hot, so that they will not wither.

While waiting for them to bear fruit, we trim the leaves if they get too thick especially the old leaves so the plant can “breathe” and the fruits can ripen easily. Also the insect will not destroy the fruits or tomatoes. Of course, we also need to maintain regular spraying of insecticide and pesticides, and also apply fertilizers to ensure healthy growth and abundant harvest.

Alright, that’s our simple but hardworking way of growing tomatoes here on our farm. I hope you like it. If you have any suggestions or ideas on how to help me better our process in planting tomatoes, please share in the comments and let’s exchange ideas!

Mabuhay!

Same here, my friend. I also grew up as a farmer, and I’m proud of it because I’ve learned so many valuable lessons in life—especially about planting vegetables. We’ve managed to survive until now. God bless our crops, and may we always have a good harvest.
