New Year, New Bath! - A Relaxing Hotspring Bath with the Family this New Year at Buguias Benguet

Greetings to all fellow Filipino here on hive most especially here @bayanihive community! It's been a while since I posted here and I'm back again to share another blog about our tradition here in our place. I'm not sure if some of you can resonate or agree with my post or blog. Let's find out. Lol!

It has long been a Filipino tradition that when the New Year comes, we should take a fresh bath to wash away the dirt and bad luck from the past year! haha. I'm not sure if I'm the only one who still believe in this. 😅 Even our laundry should already be done before the New Year begins, because according to old beliefs, if you still have laundry on New Year’s Day, you’ll be doing laundry all year long. Lol! These superstitions from the old days are still practiced up to now but not all of us, not necessarily because we truly believe in them, but simply because they’ve become part of our culture, even if we laugh about them especially this generation.

After welcoming the New Year last night, we decided this afternoon to go to a hot spring to relax and soak away our New Year’s hangover haha. So to make sure that all the dirt from 2025 removed, we decided to have a soak at the hotspring. We went together with the kids and my in-laws. The weather was cold, which made it the perfect time to enjoy a hot spring in the nearby municipality of Buguias, Benguet.

We headed to the small pools, the same place we visited last time. There were no other people around, so we really took advantage of it since we had the place all to ourselves. The kids were having so much fun splashing and swimming in the small pool. After about an hour, it started to get dark, so I asked the kids to use the bathrooms to soap up and rinse off, since using soap and shampoo is not allowed in the mini pools. Pools are just for soaking and swimming.

After changing our clothes, we went up to the snack house and had some snacks because the kids got hungry after all that swimming and soaking on the hotspring. By the time we finished eating our snacks, it was already dark, so we decided to head home.

On our way back, my father-in-law suggested a quick stop at a gas station owned by her friend, the Dimple fuel station. He jokingly said there might still be leftover New Year food lol! and he was right! We had coffee and some sticky rice, while the kids enjoyed siomai.

It was already late when we areived home, and the kids fell asleep right away. Its just a simple bath but it was memorable for me as a mom. Seeing this kids enjoying and having fun is so heartwarming and my happiness as a mom. I hope that they will remember this bond we have until they grow up. That was our simple New Year outing and bonding. I hope you also had a happy New Year with your family and were able to take a refreshing bath to welcome the year, LOL!
