Skaters in Ljubljana 2002

Hello skaters! 😎

I'm new to this community, and I am posting because, as we say, "A promise is a promise." 😜
A good year and a half ago, at HiveFest 2024 in Split, I had a pleasant conversation (over a beer, of course 🍻) with @knowhow92, and among other things, I mentioned that once I had recorded and edited a skate video with a friend. He immediately told me to post it in this community.

Yes, I said, I will, but when, and if I find it. A few days ago, I was looking through some old disks, and voila! I found it.

Well, when I looked at it, I wasn't quite sure what to do because it was very low quality, recorded on VHS, and I had saved it in Flash format (.flv) at 320x240 px. Flash was a Macromedia format for animations, a company that no longer exists, and it hasn't been supported for many years. I don't remember why it was archived in this format. πŸ€”
But now we have powerful tools that can fix all that. I found a solution! I used Tensorpix.ai to enhance and upscale it, so it's now watchable.

The introductory image is a collage of original frames, which I left intentionally because the quality is really poor. (Just to compare with the improvements in the new video).
The background music is R.L. Burnside - Too Many Ups.

The video, from 2002, shows young skaters from Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, skating around the city. At that time, there were no skate parks in Slovenia. Now there are quite a few. Perhaps @ervin-lemark could tell us more?

And here's the video! πŸŽ₯ πŸ‘‡

Video intro - 10 seconds, is my first AI video generated in Grok Imagine. When I saw how bad the original footage was, I decided I had to do something about the intro. Today, I found a solution for upscaling - Tensorpix, so I edited the old video again.
What can we do? Technology is advancing, and we have to learn, because we're not Luddites :) πŸ˜‚
Everything was re-edited in Adobe Premiere.

Recording and editing of the original video by Hawkhome Production, which we, the founders, shut down in 2006.
If you like the video, I'll be happy to share it, as I always enjoy sharing things from my past. But if you think it's not okay, feel free to mute it.

I am also now extremely curious as to why flv out of all the formats you could have chosen XD Were you using Flash as an editor maybe?! D:

Given the rigmarole involed in getting that titchy little video out of the flv format and into something watchable I'm going to unconditionally pardon all the artefacts I picked up, that was a solid effort.

I noticed that I have all flv files in folder old-google-video. So, Google Video was the first google videoservice, before YouTube and when they integrate it, we got the option to download all that old files. So, it's not original...

Hey, amazing find !INDEED

Twenty years after, and the skaters still have sessions here, on a plateau between Cankarjev dom and Maximarket. Every year there is an Obsession Street Session when and where they go through around ten spots in the city. This is one of them, legendary.

I'll try to find some more recent footage from this spot. Also, who's the skater? I can do a research...

!BEER for the effort you've put into the video
