TOMORA - SOMEWHERE ELSE
I'm not usually drawn to classic disco music, but I liked these vocals. They immediately catch your ears.
TOMORA is a musical project (duo) between Norwegian singer Aurora and Tom Rowlands from The Chemical Brothers. The collaboration is new, so they don't have an album yet, but the single 'Somewhere Else,' released three days ago, will be on the new album Come Closer, due out in April. It's an euphoric, dreamy electronic song that has the potential to be a big spring hit. My opinion :)
Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba
Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba (often abbreviated to DMBK) is a Spanish rock band from Seville. Formed in 2017, they quickly became one of the most recognizable new bands on the Spanish underground scene. A new band for me.
Musically, they blend 1970s Andalusian rock, flamenco influences, stoner, krautrock, and psychedelic elements. To date, they have released several singles and EPs, as well as three studio albums.
The song La Fuente is from their latest album, Bolsa Amarilla y Piedra Potente, released in 2024, and the recording is from Live KEXP in Bilbao. Psych rock with a touch of flamenco and Latin.
Holy F - Evie (At Work Ep. 1)
Holy F (or Holy Fuck, often abbreviated as Holy F due to censorship) is a Canadian experimental, indietronica, and post-punk band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They have been playing since 2004, are very DIY, and have released several EPs and 5 albums to date.
Their chaotic, energetic sound combines analog synthesizers, no-wave influences, heavy bass lines, fuzz guitars, loops, and often no vocals or minimal vocals. Very danceable, noise-rock electronica.
The song Evie is a preview of their upcoming sixth album, Event Beat.
Sound of Smoke - Fata Morgana
Sound of Smoke is a German band from Freiburg. They have been playing for over ten years and have released several EPs and two albums. For me, this is a new band.
They mix influences from the 60s and 70s: blues, stoner rock, krautrock, soulful vocals, and psychedelic elements. They describe themselves as 'Black Forest Psychedelic Soulrock' :)
The song 'Fata Morgana' is a preview of their new, third studio album, Mirage, which will be released at the end of March. It has a more oriental sound with disharmonious riffs and lyrics about illusions. The video has a very retro feel, but the production is modern.
POISON RUΓN - Hymn From the Hills
Poison RuΓ―n is an anarcho-punk band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. They started in 2020 and have recorded several EPs and three studio albums to date. Their style blends classic punk and post-punk rhythms.
The song "Hymn From the Hills" is the title track of their new album, also titled 'Hymn From the Hills,' which will be released in April. The sound combines catchy punk rhythms with epic touches. Very suitable for punks, old and young alike.
MADMADMAD - Big Fizz
MADMADMAD is a band from London, UK. They have been playing since 2017 and have released four studio albums and one EP to date. They are known for their raw, energetic sound that combines disco, groove, post-punk guitars, and electronic influences.
They are very dance-oriented, with crazy energy at their concerts.
The song Big Fizz is a standalone single released two days ago, with their typical sound, a blend of funk, disco, and punk, featuring strong bass, repetitive rhythms, and dance energy.
ANA - Hate Me
ANA is a new Australian band from Melbourne. They describe themselves as 'Couture Symphonic Metal', a mixture of grandiose symphonic metal (orchestral elements, powerful vocals, melodic riffs) and high-fashion aesthetics, theatricality, and provocative visuals. They have been active for three years, but have quickly gained attention in the symphonic metal scene. So far, they have recorded one EP.
The song 'Hate Me' is a preview of their upcoming first album, Motivated By Death, which will be released in May. The song is high-energy, defiant symphonic metal with powerful vocals, symphonic arrangements, heavy riffs, and lyrics that comment on the fine line between passion and hatred in the music industry or in personal life.
DOWN - Right Place, Wrong Time
And finally, Down is a band from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. They have been active since 1991, but more as a side project, with members from other bands - Pantera, Crowbar, Eyehategod. They have released several EPs and three studio albums. They sound like a blend of doom metal, stoner rock, and southern sludge, with dark riffs, powerful vocals, and swampy, groovy rhythms, very 'heavy southern groove metal'.
The song 'Right Place, Wrong Time' is a cover of Dr. John's classic funk and soul hit from 1973 (from the album In the Right Place), his biggest. The song is a standalone single, released three weeks ago, in memory of the local legend.
πΆ That should be all for today, thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

Thank you for your support!
I listened to them all and they're great, but I'm leaning towards this group MADMADMAD - Big Fizz, since I like electronic music and this one has an electronic style that I like.
There's something about that track that just clicks. How do you usually come across these lesser-known artists?
Looking forward to next week's selection! πΆ
