Splinterlands SPS Validator Node Rewards

SPS Validator Rewards.png

If you were curious how much SPS Validator Nodes earn per day this post is for you. Here I am going to share the exact amounts of SPS my node earned per day starting with the launch on March 7 2025 at 8:26 PST

image.png

Image above is when my node processed the very first block. I was there watching it happen. I was in Splinterlands Discord watching the action with the team waiting for the specific bloc to hit. It was projected to hit at 8 AM, but in actuality it took twenty six minutes longer than estimated. The SPS Validator rewards started with Hive Block 93932782

This is a historic moment in Splinterlands history, this is the exact time where SPS related transactions are now validated in a distributed fashion via validator nodes that are ran by a number of various parties. Some of the key Splinterlands team members such as @nateaguila, @cryptomancer, @yabapmatt, @davemccoy and @aggroed are running SPS Validator nodes and many of the well known third party developers are running nodes such as @peakmonsters and @monstermarket. There are many others some of the well known Splinterlands players are also in the top ten validators such as @vugtis, @dejota and @azircon.

Here are the top validators:

image.png

I have started in the top ten validators, but slowly drifted lower and now sit at number twelve right behind @beaker007 with yabapmatt and endecs close behind.

Before we get into the numbers you should know that SPS Validator node operators get rewarded for processing blocks on SPS blockchain which is kind of like a Layer 2 blockchain that operates on top of Hive blockchain.

The reward for processing a block is 0.434 SPS per block validated. In my understanding the blocks are assigned to various validator nodes based on a percentage of staked SPS voting for them. @splinterstats has a great page developed by @kiokizz where you can look up these percentages at: https://kiokizz.github.io/Splinterlands/validators.html

At the time of me writing this here is a snapshot of vote distribution:

image.png

As you can see I am at 3.46% and former CEO of Splinterlands is at 9.79% so if my assumption is correct aggroed validator should be assigned blocks to validate around 2.83 times more frequently than my validator so the rewards should be also almost three times higher than mine.

Now that we understand how the nodes are rewarded let's dive into the actual numbers. And as I mentioned before March seventh was not a full day of rewards and I have pulled this data today on March twelve before the end of the day, so the data is not complete for these two days. We do have four full days in between that provide us with a clear picture of what is going on.

As we can see the rewards and validated blocks are clearly trending down for my SPS Validator node. This is probably because more validator nodes are coming online and people are voting for them which results in blocks being spread more evenly across the validator nodes or possibly even migrating more towards the top ten validators from what I have observed.

Percent decline in SPS rewards per day for the four full days that we have in this data:
image.png

If the downtrend is going to continue I see it working out to be about 350 SPS per day by the end of this month. Of course the decline might slow down. But I took and average decline of 3% per day and that gives us the three hundred fifty SPS per day that I mentioned above.

If we say that average rewards going forward will stay at around 300 SPS per day that would give us around 10,500 SPS per month. At the current price of SPS of $0.005828 (right above half a cent) this is about $61.19 per month. Obviously top ranked validators will get more SPS rewards. For example if we take the current top validator aggroed he should be getting around 29,715 SPS per month or $173.18 per month.

Obviously this is just SPS Validator node rewards and these rewards do not include SPS and vouchers you receive for having multiple SPS Validator Licenses. Those are in addition to the node rewards.

Since I am also a Hive Witness I thought it would be interesting to compare these rewards to Hive Witness rewards.

Here are my Hive Witness rewards:

image.png

As you can see I have been a Hive Witness for exactly one month and rewards are almost exactly one dollar per day a the current price of Hive. Some days are twenty to forty cents higher and I have lower rewards on a few days because I started the witness node not exactly on the midnight of February 12 and I also took down my validator for a few days ago recently to upgrade Witness Node software from v1.27.7 to v1.27.8. During this upgrade I also practiced restoring a Hive Witness node from a snapshot which is much quicker than trying to re-sync the whole Hive Blockchain from 2016 which takes like for to five days.

Obviously I am ranked fairly low as far as Hive witnesses go at rank # 99 those with more Hive Power voting for them get much better rewards for running validator nodes. You have to keep in mind that hardware requirements for running a Hive Witness are much higher than those for running SPS Validator Nodes. Here is what my witness is running after the recent upgrade:

Intel Core i7 2.3 Ghz
image.png

With 64 GB RAM and NVMe SSD 2 TB with Ubuntu 24.04

If you are ranked higher you can earn much more per month than four to five Hive my node is earning per day:

image.png

Here is what monthly Hive Witness rewards look like for Hive Witnesses. Obviously it is a completely different reward system than we have for SPS Validators and top twenty Hive Witnesses have around 11,200 Hive in rewards per month which at the current price of Hive of twenty four cents is around $2,692!

image.png

After top twenty the rewards drop off dramatically as you can see from the image above. At my rank of #99 I am around that red dot which is around 135 Hive power per month :)

To get into top twenty witness is takes around 69 Million Hive voting for your node. I am at around 4.6 Million Hive voting for me. Don't think I will be approaching the top twenty anytime soon LOL :)

I am really thankful to everyone who voted for my SPS validator node which validated almost six thousand blocks with zero blocks missed so far!

Here is everyone who voted for me and I appreciate it very much: @bravetofu @azircon @cryptomancer @fighter4-freedom @smalp @warrentrx @jmaan @tendershepard @lovingthemoo @fivemishras @aussieninja @megabloop @tarazkp @fluidflame @stever82 @clayboyn @nickelbunker @captaindingus @burningelk @shermanator1974 @altryx @nebulusx @ronaldoavelino @beaker007 @davemccoy @seinkalar @sharkmonsters @royaleagle @foyet @zoro7 @beffeater @dmaan @bozz @bigcheddar @jimbobbill @amaan13 @kitty-kitty @beelzael @splmaan @rents @splintermaan @sc789 @rmaan @pball @azwildcat @monster-hunter @rebelyell666 @kennybot @monster-mash @illini @lordtofu @ninjaliam @anjanida @logen9f @ericohrn @iamraincrystal

All SPS earned by my SPS Validator Node is automatically staked, so you will not see me selling SPS anytime soon. Maybe will start locking in profits if we 40x from here which would be prudent, but is not very likely in the current crypto market.

If you have some staked SPS please vote for my SPS Validator Node HERE

I have recently became a Hive Witness and would really appreciate your vote for me as a witness.

You can vote the following way:

  • Via PeakD: Visit PeakD Witnesses, enter “seattlea” in the Name Search, or scroll down to my current position (99 / 93) and simply click the Vote button on the right.
  • Via Hive Signer: Vote for seattlea

If you wonder what is the best way to get involved you can use my link to begin your Splinterlands and HIVE journey.

That's too bad that you started to float down out of the top 10. I have a feeling that means I have probably fallen pretty far too.

I suspect that majority of votes is going to the top 10, the top five really moved up in terms of SPS voting for them. I am still glad that I get to hang around the 12th spot.

I think apart from top 10 or top 5 makes no major difference where you are ranked - i see still a lot that are not activated yet

Interesting. I think I am down in the 50 to 60 range.

Gladly voted for you, I generally enjoy your content and this post is definitely proving the point - thanks for taking the time to get that all together and being so open about your "earnings" and putting them into perspective. Very interesting indeed :-)

Thank you. I was looking for something like this and have not found it, so I decided to create this myself and yes this took some effort :)

You're doing well at SPS Validating!

Thanks for sharing all that data, some provided by my friend kiokizz of splinterstats. We both joined Splinterlands way back in the kickstarter and it has been quite a ride!

Wishing you and your SPS and Witness nodes all the best!

Have you lobbied for your hive witness. You got to do that. Start with SL people. I see no reason why Aggy and Matt shouldn’t vote for you. Then there is Neoxian with good amount of hive.

Always always always put me in seattlea team! Thanks for such an insightful post! One question, do u think is it worth for me (ranked 68th) to ask for more votes? Thanks a lot for ur support also!

It would be way more effective to ask for votes if you enable API access... A lot of big voters stated that they would not vote for no API node.

Thank you very much. Just wondering, if I've rented service from monstermarket I should ask to them? Thanks!

Yes, you should, I believe azircon is having a full node with API from them. If the price is not too steep and API is in place you should make a post about your validator and then would be good to ask for votes :)
