Splinterlands Land 1.75: The Turning Point in Praetoria's Land Economy!
The upcoming Land 1.75 update in Splinterlands, set to launch on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, is not just another incremental update—it’s a major shift in the way landowners will manage, optimize, and profit from their land holdings. With the introduction of new resources, refined harvesting mechanics, and deeper economic strategies, players must be well-prepared to make the most of this transition.
How to Prepare for Land 1.75
Preparation is key to ensuring a smooth transition into the new land economy. Here are some steps you should take before the update goes live:
Harvest Resources Before the Update
Any SPS or Research plots will require Wood, Stone, and Iron in addition to Grain after the update. Since these new resources will start at zero, harvest as much as possible before the patch to avoid early inefficiencies.
Plan to harvest everything as close as possible to the maintenance window on Tuesday.Maximize Grain Production Before the Update
Grain remains critical for feeding workers, and many players will find themselves short on it due to the specialization of terrain-based farming.
If your Grain worksite is on incompatible terrain, it will automatically convert to Wood, Stone, or Iron after the first harvest post-update. Switching everything to Grain just before the update ensures the most optimal transition.Prepare for No Initial Stockpiles
The game will not provide any initial stockpile of new resources, meaning players must begin gathering from scratch. Expect early shortages and price volatility in the internal market.
If you rely heavily on external resources, be ready to trade strategically.
Optimizing Your Plots for Maximum Efficiency
The shift to terrain-based production means players must rethink their land optimization strategy. Here’s how to fine-tune your plots:
Understanding Production Rates
The following are the production rates per hour per Production Point (PP):
Grain: 0.02 (unchanged)
Wood: 0.005
Stone: 0.002
Iron: 0.0005Balancing Self-Sustainability and Profitability
Producing all required resources on your own plots may not be the most efficient way to operate. Trading and specialization could be more beneficial.
If aiming for self-sustainability, remember that for each hour of SPS or Research harvesting, you need four hours of Grain production and one hour each of Wood, Stone, and Iron production.Optimizing Terrain-Based Farming
Make sure you’re aware of which plots will convert to which resources. This will help in strategic decision-making regarding production focus.
If possible, acquire additional land plots that align with the resources you wish to specialize in.
Strategies for Growth, Trade, and Profit
With new liquidity pools and expanded trading mechanics, there are several ways to maximize profitability in Land 1.75:
Leveraging the Trade Hub
The new Trade Hub simplifies resource swaps. Instead of manually converting between DEC and resources, you can directly trade one resource for another.
Expect high demand for Grain, making it one of the best resources to stockpile or trade for profit.Capitalizing on Totem Fragment Hunting
Totem fragments will now be found exclusively in Castles, Keeps, and Research Huts. If you own such plots, harvesting them regularly could result in valuable fragments.Market Predictions and Investment Strategies
Expect early shortages of Wood, Stone, and Iron, leading to high market prices. Buying these resources early, or producing excess to sell, could yield significant profits.
Specialization in specific resources could be a viable long-term strategy as the land economy becomes more intricate.
Future Predictions for Splinterlands Land Ownership
With each major land update, Splinterlands moves closer to a fully functional land economy. Here are some expectations for the future:
A More Complex and Interconnected Economy
Land 1.75 is laying the groundwork for the eventual crafting of items and spells in Land 2.0. The new resource economy will become increasingly essential for gameplay.Greater Cooperation Between Players
With inter-region transfers incurring a 12.5% fee and internal swaps facing a 10% fee, players in the same region will likely form cooperative strategies to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.Increased Barriers to Entry
The cost of participation is rising, with DEC staking requirements (currently 50k) limiting new entrants. However, those who invest wisely now could see substantial returns as land utility expands.
Final Thoughts
Splinterlands Land 1.75 is a transformative update that will reshape the land economy in Praetoria. Whether you’re a casual landowner or a serious investor, taking strategic steps now will put you ahead of the curve.
I’m excited for the evolving land dynamics and the opportunities that lie ahead. The future of Splinterlands land ownership is brighter than ever—now is the time to prepare and optimize for the next phase of the game!

I will probably just wait and see what it looks like once they launch. I just don't have the ambition to do a lot of preparation anymore. We are kind of past the point of any profit being returned, especially given what some people paid for land. I just don't have the same enthusiasm for this that I might have if they hadn't taken three years to actually do something.
I can certainly understand your point of view. Also, if you bought higher you could buy more land to bring your average cost down, but if you don't want to invest more money into this that is also very understandable.
Until they bring value back to the original cards that made them rich I can't see myself putting any more outside money into this game.
Totally get it. I am down big on Chaos Legion cards and I never even invested in Alpha, Beta or Untamed . That is sunk cost for me, I am evaluating it on the potential return going forward.
