Splinterlands Challenge Rule Change and My Soulbound Card Progress and Glint Strategy

Splinterlands Contest Rule Change

This week Splinterlands introduced changes to their Challenge rules. Basically they introduced new language intended to discourage people from fully extracting their author HIVE earnings without powering up their Hive Power. I think it is a great change, here is the exact language of this change:

New Rule: Community Commitment & Reward Eligibility
To ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the Hive ecosystem, we will evaluate the long-term commitment of participants when selecting winners. Specifically, we will review past rewards earned and currently held Hive Power (HP) as part of the selection process.
Participants who demonstrate an investor mindset by holding and growing their HP are more likely to be rewarded. Those who consistently extract all rewards without reinvesting into the ecosystem may not be eligible for prizes.
This rule aims to celebrate and encourage commitment to the Hive blockchain, fostering a strong and engaged community.

I am honoring the spirit of this new rule and as you can see from my profile I have a little bit more Hive Power than I have received rewards wise:

It is not that I think everyone should have more Hive Power than what their author and curator rewards are, but at least people shouldn't be extracting everything from their author rewards and still expecting great upvotes from these Splinterlands challenges and contests going forward.

My Soulbound Card Progress

Today I would like to take a look at my Rebellion Soulbound rewards card progress. I have achieved a major milestone for my Rebellion Soulbound reward cards, I was able to max out my Common rarity reward cards!

Here is my overall progress:

As you can see from the excellent Splintercards Soulbound Reward Tool I have completely maxed out all of my common reward cards:

I am also closing in on my Rare reward cards at 91% complete for regular foil I am really close there as well:

Surprisingly despite being at 91% I have only fully maxed out three of my rare reward cards: Thunderhoof Nomad, Quilliun Legionary and Dark Arborist but I still have nine more rare cards to max out.

I use these rare cards all the time in particular Commander Slade, Drybone Magaladon, Janni Rebel, Meriput Slinger and Dragon Egg Forager. So maxing the remainder of them is important.

When it comes to Epic cards I am only eighty four percent done. These have been the focus of my efforts, so I have been prioritizing spending glint rewards on these. I buy the whole first batch of the epic cards every season, but I am still behind on these:

This season I did buy Rare Draws and Common Draws because I had extra glint and as you can see I bought out the whole first batch of Epic Draws. I have not been using my glint on Gold foil Rarity draws, I think those are just too expensive.

Here is how my Soulbound Epic cards look so far:

As you can see I maxed out only one epic card: Shock Trooper. While I really like that card it makes me less competitive to not have all of them maxed out yet. I am close on Night Reaper and Thanalorian Blade, but others are still quite far from being maxed out. Olivia of the Brook which is one of the strongest cards in this whole set is still only at level four!

And for a complete picture here are my legendary cards:

There are a lot of these legendary cards and I am only sixteen percent of the way to maxing them out. I have not seen these being used very much and I am not making them a priority until I have the epic cards completely maxed out.

So what is my current strategy and will I be making changes to it since I maxed out my common cards and am about to max out my rare cards?

Yes, I think I will be making some changes to it. For example I will not be buying any more of the Common Rarity Draws and after I max out the rare draws I will stop buying those as well. I still have a ways to go with Epics so I will keep buying 25 Epic cards per season.

I will not be buying Gold Foil Rarity draws as they are quite expensive and don't make my deck any more powerful and for the 10% bonus per card just doesn't seem worth it.

As far as loot chests my current strategy is to wait for the competition to die down and closer to the second half of the season I start buying these starting with Minor Chests, then Major Chests, and if I have enough glint I buy Ultimate Chests. I usually don't have enough glint to buy the whole first batch of Ultimate chests. Ultimate chests are a bit of the lottery and I don't think they are worth the price, but If I were to choose between Legendary Draws and Ultimate Chests I think I would go for the Ultimate chests first.

Next we come to Resources and Exclusives:

I have plenty of Potions, so I never spend glint on those, I also don't ever buy energy, but I usually buy the first two batches of Merits. I am not wondering if Ultimate Chests or several more batches of merits are a better buy. My Gladiator cards are far from being maxed out and Merits are a guaranteed way to get the merits vs a draw of luck in Ultimate chests, so I am leaning toward buying batch three and four of Merits.

I have never bought a title, and it looks that by the time I am done maxing out my cards none of those will be left. I am OK with it.

What are your thoughts on optimizing the Glint strategy and do you value maxing out cards as much as I do?

If you wonder what is the best way to get involved you can use my link to begin your Splinterlands and HIVE journey.

Nice progress... Almost time to take on the legendaries.

My strategy is epic first then common and rare then legendary lets see how far we can complete this edition.
