My son was a fan of Lego before he switched to Mega Construx aka Megablocks. My daughter is a fan of Lego as well and while my son is almost 24 so he is out of the Lego phase he still shows me on e-bay some of the Halo Megablocks sets I bought him back in the day for $350 that he still has going on e-bay auction with a bid of $4,500 and still two days left in bidding...
These days I see a lot of Lego imitator sets that are quite outstanding and I bought a few of those for our daughter as they are way more innovative than Lego or even Megaconstrux. They come with LED lighting and other stuff. I doubt Lego can compete with all of those Chinese manufacturers going forward...

I would not bet against Lego as they have proven that they can compete. Crazy how the values have risen and it will be interesting what the final sale price is.
