Don't Miss Yaba's Pickle!

This week Splinterlands announced a new promotional card Yaba's Pickle. And I am glad to see that this is another card that has benefits for SPS stakeholders. You need 400,000 SPS staked in order to get a maximum level card.

Card Details

As all other Conclave Arcana cards Yaba's Pickle promo card comes in three different foils: Regular Foil, Gold Foil (2% drop rate, boosted to 4% with Alchemy Potions) and the most exclusive Black Foil (1 in 4,000 drop rate, boosted to 1 in 2,000 with Midnight Potions).

The stats on this card are most impressive at the maximum level. At level ten this card gains self heal and it becomes in a way similar to the good old Baakjira, except this is a common rarity card with shield and a lot less health points:

To me the important levels are at level five where you get the shield, at level eight where you gain Slow and level ten where you get the self heal, which in my opinion is the most attractive card level. Below are the detailed stats for the new card based on the card level:

How To Get It

  1. Thirty day SPS stakeholder sale. During this first stage you will be able to purchase one card for every 1,000 SPS you have staked. The cost is 150 DEC or credits per card.

  2. Seven days after the end of SPS stakeholder sale you will be able to acquire cards via Gold Foil Arcane Raffle. You buy raffle tickets at the cost of 10 vouchers, 200 DEC and 200 Aura. With each ticket you get one regular foil promo card and a chance to win one out of fifty Gold foil cards one per day.

  3. Within seven days after Gold Raffle ends you can participate in the Black Foil Auction. During this phase you can't really build up your regular foil cards and you only compete for the Black foil cards. There will be a total of twenty Black foil cards auctioned one per day for twenty days. The auction will be conducted using Auction points that you have to buy at a cost of 1000 Aura, 50 vouchers and 500 DEC per point.

Personal Take

I am only interested in participating in the first part of this event. I believe it provides the best value in terms of getting a maxed out card and getting a chance at a black foil card or gold cards.

The second portion of the sale is if you are interested in building up your gold foil collection and is a more expensive affair. And I feel like the third part of the sale is almost a whale game or if you really want a black foil and your luck didn't strike in the first part of the event.

I have enough SPS staked to get at least two full cards of Yaba's Pickle. As you can see I have 493 thousand SPS staked on my main account which equates to 493 copies of the card:

Additionally I have 372 thousand SPS staked on my second account which are good for another 372 cards. So together I have 865 cards worth of SPS staked. You need at least 800 cards to make full two regular foil Yaba's Pickles, but since there is a chance of gold foils we should expect to buy more cards than eight hundred to make two maxed out regular foil cards.

I will be using Alchemy Potions to get more gold foil card so my chance of getting a gold foil will be 4% with 800 cards that is around 32 gold foil cards expected so I should buy at least 832 cards if I hope to get two maximum level Yaba Pickle cards.

With 865 eligible cards I should be more than covered even if my gold foil card luck is better than average. Another consideration, if you don't have enough SPS to reach your desired number of cards you can top up your SPS. For example I have 493,680 SPS staked, right before the snapshot is taken I can buy 320 SPS and that gives me 494 cards for only 320 SPS to round it up to the nearest thousand. And if you are short of cards you can buy them at the secondary market, or buy more SPS now and stake it before the snapshot is taken.

So plan ahead and don't miss this great card!

With limited funds available for cards (focus on land for now) I have way more staked SPS than the desire to buy extra copies, so I'll help my guild mates where needed to buy these cards for them 🙂
