Conclave Arcana Alchemy Packs Sold Out, One Day Left For Standard and Legendary Packs

Most Recent Splinterlands Update Introduces Scholar Display

I found it interesting that now when you have a match you can see that you have played against a scholar. Take this battle for example:

Yes, I won this battle and it is an interesting battle that I will share below, but what I also found interesting is that every single player on the Modern Champion Leaderboard is using a scholar.

You cannot see that accounts are powered by a scholar on the leaderboard display:

But if you click on a player profile you will see that it now says "Scholared By: Scholar Name" I also found it interesting that Rukawa.Red is playing for all three top accounts on the leaderboard. Rukawa.Red must be the best player we have in the game.

Winning a Battle Against a Scholar

Here is a Modern Diamond battle I recently had against a scholar. The ruleset here was: Life, Death, Earth and Dragon available with a fairly low mana battle with twenty three mana available to build your team.

We also have Keep your Distance and Equal Opportunity rulesets in effect.

The Strategy

Since we have an Equal Opportunity ruleset in effect here I decided that it would be a good idea to use a dragon summoner Sheng Xiao. This summoner lets you select two cards on your team that would apply poison to up to three enemy cards when they are defeated.

In the equal opportunity it is fairly easy to guess which two cards would be killed first the ones with the lowest health and in my case those are Careless Badger and Ujurak Elder. Though I can be wrong and another card might be killed off first if the enemy is using a monster with a scattershot for example.

But regardless I picked the two monsters with the lowest health and filled the field with as many monsters as I could.

The Battle

As you can see I was able to guess Careless Badger falling on the battle field first and at the start of the second round I have been able to take out their tank as well as have poison applied to the two remaining monsters:

In round two I was able to take out their healing monster and unfortunately not before one of my main damage dealers was affected by the poison himself.

Still at the start of round three we are in a pretty good position with four monsters still remaining on the battlefield.

At the start of round four all four cards on my team are still in the play thanks to the healing from the Arachne Weaver. Looks like we just need to outlast the Nalara Geinek as only poison and ranged attackers can do any damage to that card on my team.

And in round four I did manage to score a three point hit with one miss from my ranged attackers so at the start of the round five the poison takes out the opponents last remaining card.

And that is how you beat a scholar in Modern Diamond league.

And we win a nice sixteen SPS from this battle:
