Battle of the Forgotten: Blinding Reflector
There are some cards that get almost no play in modern battles. One of these cards is Blinding Reflector. One of the main strengths of this mini tank is a shier amount of shield and health. Five shield is particularly great with void armor and six health is pretty good as well. It also comes with two melee damage so you don't have to weapons train it. This is a great tank to put upfront in low to medium mana battles where you expect a mix of ranged, melee and magic attacks.
This card is from Chaos Legion core set. It takes three mana to play and comes with somewhat pedestrian specifications. Though for three mana and common rarity I am not sure we should expect much more.
Blinding Reflector has two melee damage, three speed, five shield and six health point with Magic Reflect and Blind abilities.
The reason this card is not very frequently used is because in Life splinter we have an amazing two mana flying tank: Pelacor Conjurer.
And yes Pelacor Conjurer is an absolutely amazing card! For only two mana you get a flying mini tank that comes with a base health of eight points, flying, magic reflect, divine shield and phase abilities. Because this card has no attack it is frequently used with weapons training monsters making it even more deadly.
But there are cases where Blinding Reflector is a better choice. Today I am going to share a battle where my opponent is using Pelacor Conjurer and I am using Blinding Reflector.
Rulesets where Blinding Reflector shines are:
Weak Magic - in this ruleset Blinding Reflector basically gets Void Armor where magic has to hit the shield before getting to his healthpoints.
Aim True ruleset where all units gain True Strike ability. A speed of three is very average, but with a true strike that doesn't matter and Blinding Reflector will hit his target every time.
The Battle
Now lets take a look at my recent battle where Weak Magic and Aim True rulesets were in effect and Blinding Reflector when right against the Pelacor Conjurer.

The Strategy
In addition to Weak Magic and Aim True rulesets we have Silenced Summoners ruleset in effect. When we have silenced summoner I like to use Quix the Devious summoner. This summoner takes up only four mana and let's me play all the monsters from the Dragon splinter in addition to the splinter I chose.
In this case Life, Death and Dragon splinters were available. I made a choice to go with the Life Splinter to get access to Blinding Reflector as my main tank and Stitch Leach as well as Venari Crystalsmith as well as the Soul Fiend that speeds up my monsters and let's me strike first but mostly serves as a meat shield in the back.
This is a low to medium mana battle with 21 mana points available. So I have to make the most of my monsters. I feel that Blinding Reflector plays a key role upfront absorbing lots of damage from the enemy. It basically has eleven health points in the weak magic ruleset compared to pelacor conjurer's eight health points so for only one extra mana I get three more health points.
My strategy here is to play a Sneak strategy for that I Dhampir Infiltrator as my main damage dealer with double strike of two melee damage and cripple that does one more damage. I am also using Stitch Leach and Uraeus as my other two sneak monsters. With the true strike I don't need to worry about any of them missing their strikes and together they have twelve melee damage per round with a good chance to land poison from Uraeus.
The line up of my sneak monsters is also not accidental. I am placeing my main damage dealer first, then stitch leach who grows his health every time he strikes the enemy with a life leach ability and last of the sneakers is Uraeus because he has a shield so would not suffer any damage from the first sneak strike.
The last two monsters in my line up is Venari Crystalsmith with six health points and ability to heal my tank as well as three ranged damage. And finally last but not least is Soul Fiend that increases the speed of my team and serves as sneak protection meat shield.
With my strategy out of the way, lets take a look at how it worked out in the battle:
As you can see from the screenshot above my opponent strikes first dealing two damage to my Blinding Reflector. Then we had a major exchange of blows with my sneak team managing to take out two of the enemy backline monsters:
At the start of round two we have plenty of health on the Blinding reflector. And it looks like we have a lot more sneak damage lined up for round two.
As you can see at the start of round three we are totally destroying our opponent with our sneak damage while our front tank is still at six health points! This battle is basically done, but let's see how the rest of the battle will play out.
At the start of round four it is basically game over for Momongja he will strike first but not take out our Blinding Reflector and we will totally obliterate it with our Uraeus:
Nice win and over a thousand glint and ten SPS tokens is our reward.
