Home for Now
Hail to the Hive!
We have been trapped in a specific area for a while due to lock closures and very low water levels in the canal, due to lack of rain and poor maintenance of the locks. It’s made a few things quite challenging.
Being a continuous cruiser living aboard a narrowboat you are supposed to keep moving and not be in any one spot for more than 2 weeks, or feel the wrath of the Canal & River Trust ( get an e mail reminding you to move on 🤣 ) so the low water levels and lock closures kind of did us a favour as we got a pass to just sit tight.
We did initially move a little bit to be closer to the water point to refill the tanks with fresh water ( which I did with a wheelbarrow and containers) but then we just stayed put.
And if we had to be stuck anywhere then this was a good call as it had a bit of everything. Beautiful scenery, close to facilities, grocery stores, pubs etc all very handy.
And when the wind wasn’t being a pesky nuisance I could get the drone out and have a bit of fun and get that unique view from a vantage point we can only really get using drones.
When I get the chance to do this it really does put into perspective exactly how amazing what we do and how we live is.
Moored up by the side of the canal near a cute little bridge in the middle of the countryside and yet still only a 30 minute walk into a good sized town with everything you would need access to.
And of course we now have 2 boats which adds more utility and living space ( and a washing machine!!!!!)
Now I know it’s not everyones cup of tea but I do love manipulating the images in photoshop to create a bit of art and I’ve always thought messing with the textures and colours of the aerial images can really create some amazing imagery.
This Junction is literally 15 minutes from where we are moored. Less if you have longer legs 😉
And this Aqueduct is pretty much next to us and takes on a wonderful perspective from the air.
I’m glad I finally got the drone all charged and in the air on a non windy day.
I hope you enjoyed the views as much as I did
Gorgeous pictures! Have you got to move both boats every time? 😂
Yup 🤣
Haha, I'll enjoy that! I was just wondering where you were and thinking I hadn't seen any posts recently (distracted with work and that, so sorry I missed any). The photographs are down the road?
We are in the Tamworth Area currently. But yeah both me and @millycf1976 are hella busy. Really struggling with logistics/time/work etc/ Hoping a shift in things coming up will help with this soon.
Oh yeah, Tamworth. You mentioned that before - I think it's where you can do the build? It's not an area I know but the pictures look gorgeous!
Hope things get a little easier soon.
It’ll be fine, just got to tackle one thing at a time 😄. Hope you are well also!!
Six weeks to retirement, I'm delirious 😂
Retirement!!!!! Whoaaaaaaaa. Really ? Whats the plan?

Your post is a really great start to my Sunday. I love the pace of canal life and you have captured that perfectly. Your video in response to @shanibeer is a very welcome bonus.

Cheers @keithtaylor I really appreciate that. When the weather permits I try and include drone shots on my vlogs as they add a really nice perspective. Got some cracking footage of caen Hill Locks and Foxton Locks. On sunny days no less as well !!!
Hello @scubahead friend!!!... loved reading this post on my Sunday morning! ☕️🥐... Beautiful to see those two boats from up above! 😍📷... I'm so happy for you and for "now being able to have a washing machine" 😂 thanks to this!... Sending a big hug and continued blessings!!!!

You have your Mr & Mrs boats now. Nice
Haha 🤣 yes we do and I think we might get too used to it. It’s quite good having thee extra space
Love seeing these views. What a unique living adventure and way to explore the country. A little too close to camping for my taste these days, what with the water carrying and all. I'm guess I'm getting too accustomed to being spoiled in the house and AC.
Haha we.ve even got a washing machine on the new boat!!!! Oh the luxury
