Scorsese for me is just overrated and I know it will be a torture to watch The Irishman so I gladly skipped it. Still though, these 3-hour+ movies generally get really high scores across the board and for many of them I really don't understand why they get such a praise.

I think the reason for the high score might be because of the amount of work put into its cinematography. Imagine the hours put in for a 90 minute movie, now talk more about a 3 hours movie.
I get it but at the same time that doesn't make sense. For me, my personal enjoyment and how much a movie sticks is the only real metric in the score that I give it.
