πŸ““ May 2025 Recap & Hive Blog Progress!

This blog acts as a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews.

Hive Blog May Growth

I kind of picked up the pace a bit in May but still only got around watching 7 Movies as I'm spending way more time still plating Balatro daily. At the same time, my watchlist probably grew with 40+ movies / Tv-Shows / Games that I want to watch and play. The good thing is that I easily can pick my spot and almost everything I watch was worth the time in May with an average score I gave at 7.25.

I have also been getting some great support on my posts which kind of increases my sense of responsability and I to make each post worth it. Special Thanks to @appreciator / @ocd / @ocdb / @slobberchops / @netflixr / @crimsonclad / @solominer / @skiptvads / @incublus / @leo.voter / @ripperone and many others for the support last month!

I continue to use all the HBD that I earn and convert it to Hive to get a extra HP lease on Hive-Engine so my vote becomes worth more and more. With some good payouts coming, I should be able to keep it well above 5000 HP and I'll start looking to increase the time of incoming leases to get more stability and less pressure.

I'm back to 5800 Effective HP with a 100% vote that is now worth around 0.06$-0.07$ which at least allows me to give something back. My owned HP also continue to grow and I have no intention whatsoever to cash out anything. I really enjoy having this blog and it makes each movie or show I watch in a way extra special and memorable.

5th Month Hive Progress

End April 2025End May 2025

I managed to have the biggest growth so far month over month increasing my holdings with 77.831 HP while the delegated Hive also grew a bit again.

I also had the biggest month when it comes down people who pressed the follow button at 11. I do know this will get harder and harder as time goes by. Myself now, I'm following 102 accounts but I want to keep it around 100 so I might unfollow a couple especially if there is less movie-related content or if there are these reblog overflows. The ones that I follow always have an increased change to get a manual upvote before I move on to the communities-new tab.

MonthHP / Power UpGrowth+LeasedFollowsPostsCommentsTotal
January 2025117HP (+100HP)17HP2921HP911100111
February 2025207 HP (+50HP)40HP3916 HP151089210
March 2025266 HP59HP5564 HP229115334
April 2025319 HP53 HP5395 HP28578417
May 2025397 HP78 HP5803 HP39891516

Pretty good numbers overall last month and I like to stick around this Quality/Quantity number when it comes down to post. I still use a https://hive.vote/ auto-upvote list so my voting doesn't go to 100% on days when I'm not around. I mainly looks at accounts who are good for Hive and/or have Media-related content. Right now on the list are @cinetv | @netflixr | @takeru255 | @incublus | @okarun | @bighungrypanda | @skiptvads | @slobberchops | @pravesh0 | @ocdb

I continue to do most curation manually though. My curation result last month inreased from 6.83% APR to now 8.70% which practically makes the leases pay for themselves.

May 2025 Movies Recap

I only watched movies last month and the 2 most memorable ones were A Silent Voice (7.9/10) which really grew on me a lot the days and the weeks after along with Sinners (7.9/10) which I'm really glad that I watched in the cinema as it really added a lot to it. I didn't go in with too much expectation but it did fully justify the high scores it is getting.

I watched one older movie with Fandango (7.5/10) which according to Tarantino is a masterpiece. I enjoyed watching it myself. As there was the news on the new Pope I ended up sticking with the theme and watched Conclave (7.0/10) which otherwise I would not have seen and it was actually better than I anticipated as it's not really the kind of movie I tend to like. In addition to this with the peak of the tennis season ongoing, I also watched Challengers (7.1/10)which also lived up to the hype.

I'm watching more and more Anime also and Perfect Blue (7.0/10) which gets a 8.0 score in imdb wasn't my thing even though I can understand why it's so highly rated. Finally Drop (6.4/10) was a mediocre no brain movie with a short runtime which served it's purpose.

June 2025 Outlook

I actually finished watching the 2nd season of Doctor who this evening which I will make a review on in a couple of days (Spoiler: I don't like Doctor Who anymore as the magic kind of is gone), I also plan to binge watch the 2nd season of Andor and have a bunch of moviesr ready which includes some older ones and some anime to choose from. The one I potentially want to go see in the Cinema is Bring Her Back which I avoided all spoilers on only knowing it's from the people that made Talk To Me which was the movie I enjoyed watched the most in 2023.

That's it for the May Recap!

Congratulations for your growth. The hard work is showing its results.

Also, in the screenshot from the auto-upvote tool, it shows 2 followers on my username. Does that means that there is another person, besides you, that has me in their auto-upvote list?

Yes, that is exactly what that means. It's quite hard to get people to press the follow button but even harder for someone who has an upvote that is worth something to add you to their auto-upvote list in Hive.vote.

I know, it is hard, that's why I wanna say thank you for being one of them 😊 It means a lot for me.

11 is a great number, man. I don't think that many people follow me, lol. By the way, gaining followers on Hive isn't easy, but sometimes, unexpectedly, you can get 10 followers in a single day.

Different post from your usual ones but I found it to be very helpful since I didn't know about either HP leasing nor about automatic voting.

I suppose I did know about automated votes, I just never really looked into how implementing them.

Of course the two things go hand in hand. If you're paying for borrowed HP it goes without saying that you need the best returns from it without ever letting your upvote mana reach 100%.

I don't know, I like manual curations better. It just feels more genuine and rewarding for the author of the post. However it's difficult to use up all your votes consistently every day and especially if your vote is just a fraction of a cent it just seems like a meaningless chore.

But I think I can change the way I manage my account and work towards growing my stake in Hive while spreading the love a bit. Thanks for sharing all this in such a concise and effective way. πŸ‘

As for your content, I'd say just keep doing what you're already doing and you can't go wrong.

You've definetely made it on my favorite list but sometimes I'm too late to vote on your posts or the movie in question doesn't necessarily meet my personal taste so I'm less motivated to take the time to read the post but I have to say your well curated and consistent content definetely stands out.

Thanks!

I'm doing these posts monthly at least in the first year as I'm a numbers guy and I enjoy keeping track of these things. I like the combination between Auto-votes and manual voting as some accounts I would manually vote each time anyway so It's better to do it early automated. It's not that easy though to have accounts that are good for hive, have content that interests me, and don't abuse by getting lazy when they know they will get autovoted by a lot of people. At the same time, it's also really nice to receive auto-votes as you know you don't have to rely on 'getting lucky' to be on the radar of curation groups.

For as far as the leasing goes, it's the cheapest way to get influence and grow I would think as it generally will earn you a lot more than it costs. The extra curation rewards pay off at least part of the cost and someone with let's put it extreme 50k Hive Power will naturally get a lot more upvotes compared to someone with 10 Hive Power.

With Binance giving such high staking (close to +50% last thing I saw), it's getting harder to get affordable leases because why would anyone settle for 8% instead of 50%. I haven't gotten my latest bids filled and some previous ones got canceled so I'm back down to 4500HP now. The good thing though is that one of the expired leases hasn't been taken back yet so that is free Hive Power which is another hidden benefit of leasing which actually makes it cheaper than it really is.

Nice to see you like my content, I've enjoyed having a blog about things that I watch as it really does enhance the viewing experience overall. I'm also kind of making it so the blog would something I would like to read myself in search for some things I possibly otherwise would not come across without any spoilers.

It's difficult not being jaded. In general I'd like to see a bit more focus on quality content rather than seniority and all of that but it what it is.

What are some options to get these HP rentals? You mentioned binance but are there any alternatives to that one?

Anyway, good luck with all your endeavours πŸ˜‰

you can't rent Hive Power on binance, you can only stake Hive there for big returns. For as far as I know, the only 2 ways the rent is either hive-engine or through a private deal directly with someone.

Okay, it's on Hive-engine under the "Lease" tab. Never really looked into all that.

I've had some issues with binance, I prefer using a couple other exchanges right now, but even just the hive engine alternative could be interesting, thanks!

I'd really love for my vote to be worth at least 0,01$ one day πŸ˜…
