🎬 2005 Movie #35 | The Social Network (2010)

The Social Network (7.0/10)
Early on I noticed some big names with director David Fincher who is known for movies like Seven, Fight Club & Gone Girl. The writer was Aaron Sorkin who also ringed a bell but I only really see Money Ball as a name that stands out. What I notived very early on was the really fast talking in the opening scene and a volume inbalance between the voice and the background which fully made me rely on reading the subtitles and I was barely able to keep up with that which made me miss quite some of what was actually said.
What followed was a combination of events that happened when it came down to the eventual creation of facebook and some flashforwards to courtroom scenes with the Winklevoss Twins who suid Zuckerberg for stealing their ideas and with the business partner played by Andrew Garfield who suid him for dilluting his shares. Personally, I always prefer a chronological straightforward story instead of the gimmick of always switching in time which is something that works for a few movies but has become a technique that is overused in films these days. It wasn't overly annoying though.
A large part of the movie is actually a Courtroom Drama with the main question to what degree Zuckerberg stole the idea and screwed his business partner by dilluting his shares. Another part of the movie is also the story of Zuckerberg who is a smart guy who is capable of changing the world but fails the change the one thing he needs to change about himself. This kind of shows in one of the last shots of the movie with the text that he's the youghest billionair in the world while the image shows him sad as he's refreshing the page of the facebook profile from the girl who broke up with him at the start of the movie to see if she accepted his friend request.
Movie Plot:
As Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.
Conclusion
If you want to know the basic story about the facebook creation, you better just watch a 5 Minute recap of it on youtube which explains everything efficiently. The real story behind the Social Network is about the character of Zuckerberg which I actually sympathised with a bit. I kind of wasted this movie as I wasn't 100% focused and it could have been a lot more for me than what it was. Watching some youtube videos which explain "The Tragedy of the Obsessed Creator" made me appreciate the movie a bit more. So overall I'm glad that I got to see if and if there is one movie that I didn't really mind wasting iut was this one. So still a 7.0/10 even though for the actual story I would recommend myself to watch a recap and for the story and motivation of Zuckerberg I would need to be more sharp. This siad, I do understand why it gets a 7.8/10 on imdb

I've watched this movie, and like you said, it's better to watch a 5 min recap on YouTube. Nice Post btw👍
Ppurely if you want to get the story on what went down with the creation of facebook, one of the recap youtube videos is excellent. However, I did like the more personal story with the ending in the social network and might rewatch it one day just for that as a 2nd viewing should make it easier.
Thanks for stopping by!
I thought the movie was pretty fantastic. I've seen it more than once and one of the times I was watching it with subtitles. The scene where he is in the restaurant with his girlfriend he talks so fast that the subs filled up half the screen.
For me, i learned an awful lot about what went on with FB in the early years and was surprised to see that the Napster guy was so instrumental in getting it off the ground. Justin Timberlake is one of those actors that I think it pretty damn good too so it was nice to see him in that role.
I'm usually not a fan of singers turning actors, but with Justin Timberlake I remember that I really liked the movie In Time where he played the lead role, so he quickly brushed off my prejudices.
I thought he did a good job in "In Time" as well. I think critics hated that film but I found it to be an interesting concept that was mostly well done.
