My New Stick - Cali Twin

Every year or so I buy myself a new board..... Its my way of upgrading my ride and trying new things out.

However, this new board is a little more special as I haven't purchased a new one for nearly 5 years. My old board is a Slater Designs Omni and I just loved the board and couldn't think of anything else better to ride for a long time. It paddled and handled the surf that we get on a regular basis here on the Gold Coast in Australia and, even after delaminating in my car, I patched it and kept riding it for a few more years.

I finally bit the bullet and purchased a new Cali Twin. Now anyone who knows anything about boards knows about this collaborative design by MR (Mark Richards) and Mayhem surfboards. It has a fantastic outline and the meat of the board is pushed back under your shoulders to give you more paddling power. The twin fin design is complemented by a small middle nub fin for stabilization. After a few surfs to get the hang of things, this board is fantastic and handles all kind of swell from mush to overhead and anything in between.

Can't wait for the swell to kick back in so I can get some more fun out of this beauty!
