Hive Music Festival Week 168 Round 3 "Alegría, alegría" (Joy, joy) Cover by @sayury

Con el Cuatro prestado por @aleida2025 y en casa de mis comadres @flordi y @petronila grabé una canción acorde al inicio del 2026, enraizada en la Epifanía del Señor, es decir, en su presentación a todos.

De todo es posible hacer polémica y está canción se presta un poco para eso ya que nombra a Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar. Estos son los nombres que desde niños aprendimos tenían los Tres Reyes Magos, así cómo aprendimos que uno era blanco, de raza caucásica, otro negro probablemente de África y otro indio que pidría representar a cualquier latinoamericano pero América aún no era conocida por el resto del mundo.

Hay otras tres que conozco:

1. Cuando se habla de que Eva hizo que Adán se comiera "Una manzana". La Biblia menciona "el fruto del árbol de la ciencia del buen y del mal" nunca menciona a una
   manzana.

2. Cuando se dice que a Jonás se lo teagó una ballena...otra "fake news". La Biblia dice que se lo tragó "un gran pez" pero no dice que este era una ballena.

3. Cuando se menciona que Saulo de Tarso - posteriormente llamado Pablo, y en nuestros días San Pablo - se cayó del caballo cuando iba camino a Damasco.
   La Biblia no menciona en qué iba, solo dice que cayó al suelo. Es posible que fuera a caballo o que en ese momento fuera a pie o en camello o en dromedario o en burro.
   
   

   
   
   
   
   Pero volvamos a la canción, es un villancico que conserva toda la leyenda de los tres reyes Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar.

Pero, además de ello, de vez en cuando aparece algún término poco usual, así que voy a colocar acá un breve glosario con el significado de esas "palabritas raras" no por orden alfabético sino " por orden de aparición"

Clarines: Son instrumentos musicales de viento hechos de metal. Se parecen a las trompetas pero su sonido es más agudo.

A big hello to this entire community of music lovers and enthusiasts. We've survived a turbulent and difficult year for some, and a peaceful and routine one for others. We're in the home stretch, already living the last days of 2025.

With the cuatro borrowed from @aleida2025 and at the home of my friends @flordi and @petronila, I recorded a song fitting for the beginning of 2026, rooted in the Epiphany of the Lord, that is, in His presentation to all.

Everything can be controversial, and this song lends itself to that a bit since it mentions Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar. These are the names we learned as children of the Three Wise Men, just as we learned that one was white, of Caucasian descent, another black, probably from Africa, and another indigenous, who could represent any Latin American, but America wasn't yet known to the rest of the world.

Well, then we grew up and on our own we started reading the Bible and we found that it never says they were kings or that there were three of them, it only says they were "wise men." More than one, surely, but it doesn't say how many. It says they were wise men—not that they were kings—and we assume they studied the stars because they arrived guided by one. So the "magic" was astrology. Their names don't appear anywhere in the Bible. So, the idea that they were three kings named Melchior, Caspar, and Balthasar seems to have been one of those "fake news" stories.

There are three others I know of:

1. When it's said that Eve made Adam eat "an apple." The Bible mentions "the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" and never mentions an apple.

2. When it's said that Jonah was swallowed by a whale...another "fake news" story. The Bible says he was swallowed by "a great fish" but doesn't say it was a whale.

3. When it's said that... It mentions that Saul of Tarsus—later called Paul, and in our day Saint Paul—fell from his horse on the road to Damascus.

The Bible doesn't mention what he was riding, only that he fell to the ground. It's possible he was on a horse, or that at that moment he was on foot, or riding a camel, a dromedary, or a donkey.

But let's get back to the song. It's a Christmas carol that preserves the entire legend of the three kings, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar.

However, in addition to that, some unusual terms occasionally appear, so I'm going to include a brief glossary here with the meanings of these "odd words," not in alphabetical order, but "in order of appearance."

Clarines: These are wind instruments made of metal. They resemble trumpets, but their sound is higher-pitched.

Rejoicing: A very intense joy

Christmas carol: These are Christmas songs of adoration to the Christ Child
