Vonak! The Rise Of Weary Debilitation
Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
Rebellion
was the 5th major set that was introduced into Splinterlands and just like the previous sets, it has introduced a new batch of abilities to the game, expanding the variety of strategies and card synergies that we can use to win our battles. But aside from new abilities, Rebellion also comes with debilitations which rather than benefit, it brings negative buffs into the card in exchange of having higher stats in contrast their mana cost.
And so, with this post, I will talk about one of the debilitations called Weary
and how it could affect the result of the battle.
What is Weary Debilitation?
Wear
is a debilitations that was first introduced with the Rebellion soulbound reward cards. As the name suggest, this debilitation has 10% chance for the card to be exhausted beginning in the round 1 and makes the card unable to attack. Each round the chance to be Exhausted will be increased by 10% up to a maximum of 80%.
Cons
⛔️ 10% chance to be exhausted starting from round 1 and has a chance to be increased by 10% each round until it reach 80%.
⛔️ Exhausted units cannot evade or Retaliate on attacks.
⛔️ Units with Immunity also gets Exhausted when they got Weary (i.e. Grimbardum Smith can get Weary due to the effect of Soul Siphon when Heloise The Hollow was in play.)
Prons
✅ Units with Weary will have stats that were higher in contrast of their mana cost.
Best Ruleset
![]() Back To Basics | Monsters lose all abilities. |
Since Weary
is a debilitation that gives negative status on the unit with the card's ability, the best ruleset to play cards with Weary was during back to basics since the debilitation will not activate.
Cards with Weary Debilitations
As of the moment, there are only 2 cards with the Weary
debilitation. One being Halfling Refugee which is an Epic Rebellion Soulbound reward and Eleanor Bravefoot which is a Legendary Promo card from the hall of Legends. Both have significantly have low mana and neutral units so they can be used in most battles but at the same time, they poses huge stats and other abilities that makes them better compared to cards of the same mana.
Battle Showcase
Battle 1:
In this battle, there is a verry low mana cap available as well as the ruleset being Up Close and Personal and Little League limits the use of the cards to melee units which are 4 mana or less but at the same time, it gives the Melee Mayhem ruleset which allows for cards to be able to attack regardless of their position. I place the card Halfling Refugee as my main tank since even at 1 mana, it has quite a huge amount of health, had decent melee damage and can sustain the damage it receives with Heal unless Weary make the card Exhausted.
Fortunately, Weary did not took effect on round 1 so Halfling Refugee was able to restore its health with Heal and inflict 2 damage to the opponent's Antoid Platoon.
But its luck ended with round 2 as it was defeated by Night Stalker but since it only has 1 mana and was only 1 card, it was not that big of a lost for my team.
As a result, my team was still manage to win the battle with very few cards defeated in my lineup.
Battle 2:
The next battle comes with an even less mana cap but again, having Halfling Refugee with only 1 mana tank with Heal ability can be quite worth it to use in the battle even when it has Weary cause even if it does not attack, it can absorbed a good amount of damage from my opponent attacks and may even be much more preferable since my opponent has Thorns.
Thankfully, it was able to Heal itself and missed the attack so the Thorns was not able to damage it and preserved its health.
That allows Halfling Refugee to absorb another batch of attacks from my opponent team before it was defeated.
And that sacrifice allows the rest of my cards to seize the victory against my opponent.
Closing
With the Debilitations were included in the Rebellion set, I think that Weary
was not the worst of them all cause even when it can make the card unable to attack. The chances of it to be triggered was reliant on chance so there can be times that it may not even activate within the battle or the card with the debilitation has already fulfilled its purpose such as the case with Halfling Refugee.
Thank you and see you at the next post.

Weary also comes into play a lot when you have battles with/against Heloise at max level. It will be very interesting to see how the debilitations are used in the upcoming set!
Yeah... as part of the effect of Soul Siphon. It always got me kicked whenever I encounter them in battle.
