Twitch Drops And The New Influencer Card

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

One of the things that keeps me entertained as I play Splinterlands is through watching SplinterlandsTV on Twitch. Not only can I watch other Splinterlands players play, I also sometimes get cards or tokens from their giveaways, so it was a big shock to me when the program has been paused. However, as part of the Splinterlands Marketing push, it seems that they are trying to find ways to revive SplinterlandsTV by giving Twitch Drops and introducing an Influencer card that can only be obtained by watching Splinterlands Streamers.

Twitch Drop

Twitch Drop is an in-game loot that viewers can unlock by meeting certain requirements set by the game developers of games participating in the Drops campaign, to earn rewards, so this is not just exclusive to Splinterlands, but is certainly a feature that can help Splinterlands streamers to increase their view count while rewarding their viewers. To begin participating in the campaign, first, players will need to link both their Twitch and Discord accounts in to the game through User Account Socials or by going to Settings → Socials. This is needed in to be able to send the drops in your account..

The Drops campaign will be held on a monthly basis, but is subject to change, and to participate, players need to watch Splinterlands Streamers for a certain amount of time to be rewarded with Glint and a new promo card.

Drops Breakdown

Watch hoursDrops Reward
Watch 3 hours 1,000 Glint
Watch 6 hours 1,000 Glint
Watch 9 hours 1,000 Glint
Watch 12 hours 1,000 Glint
Watch 15 hoursArena Fanatic Influencer Card (1 CC)

Players does not need to watch a streamer in one go to just claim all the drops reward. It can be an accumulation of hours watching, different streamers, so there is no need to rush completing the campaign. Once players have claimed all the drops, they need to wait for the next campaign to get new drops.

With 5 mana, Arena Fanatic is a decent card to have. Although it was slow and does not have huge attack damage, it has a decent amount of health and armor combined. It only has 1 ability in it's arsenal and it can only be obtained once it reaches level 8, but with Amplify, it can help to increase the damage of Retaliate, Corrosive Ward, Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns for all friendly units by 1, making it a good support card that has flexible use case since it was a Neutral card. Some of it's potential synergies are:

Best Rulesets

In terms of rulesets, Arena Fanatic has best use case when playing under retaliatory rulesets and increase the damage your opponent will get when attacking your cards.

Card Distribution

For the Distribution of Arena Fanatic, there will be a total of 25,000 BCX of regular foil card that will be minted with 23,000 BCX allocated for Twitch Drops while the remaining 2,000 BCX are reserved for marketing. Combined, that will be roughly enough for 217 max level cards. Aside from that, there will be also 1,500 gold foil copies of card that will be minted or around 68 max level copies as well as 40 Black Foil, 25 Gold Foil Arcane and 10 Black Foil Arcane copies that will be minted. All the cards will be held in the Splinterlands marketing account and will be distributed via influencer partnerships and Marketing initiatives.

Closing

I think that the Twitch Drops and the Influencer card is a good fist step in reintroducing Splinterlands Streamers and as a marketing avenue to keep players engage to the streamers. However, when the player completes the campaign, there is almost no reason for them to continue watching the streamers until the next campaign starts again, so I think it is better to shorten the duration of the campaign. Of course, the Streamer also has to think of ways to make their streams engaging even without rewards.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
