Tasoshi Drakamoto Got Reworked

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Tasoshi Drakamoto.png

By the time of writing this post, it has already been around 40 days since Tasoshi Drakamoto has been available as an exclusive item in the Voucher Shop. Since then, 1,307,000 Vouchers have already been spent on the card. To remind you, the items in the Voucher Shop are currently the only thing that gives utility to the Voucher token ever since it was removed as a payment option in buying Wild pass to play Wild Format, and has become a huge Voucher sink as all the sales from the cards are burned, reducing the total supply of the token in the ecosystem. Which is why it is important for the card to be desirable. However, compared to the last Voucher card, Kelan Gaines, Tasoshi Drakamoto didn't get as much usage in ranked battles, making the desire to get the card lackluster. But recently, the card has been reworked with some tweaks in stats and new abilities.

So, the question now is, "Will this new promo card now become a huge Voucher sink?" That is what I want to figure out by taking a look at the reworked #TasoshiDrakamoto.

Upgraded Tasoshi Drakamoto

Tasoshi Drakamoto was the 4th Voucher card to be sold in the shop, and was also the 1st Voucher card to have the Epic rarity to be sold in the shop. Unlike the previous cards, that are part of the Rebellion set, Tasoshi Drakamoto belongs to Conclave Arcana as a Fire element unit that has the Drakoshan Bloodline, so when used with the Archons Kavor Skarn, it will get +1 additional speed from its Bloodline Dominion. Until recently, it cost 8 mana to use this card, but after the rework, its mana cost has been down to 6, and the Tasoshi Drakamoto ability was added at level 2, giving it more use cases in the battle.

The addition of Painforge ability is actually a huge boost for the card because every time this card gets damage by Poison or Burning, this card will get an additional magic damage, and if you can just sustain the health of this card, it can be a powerful card to be feared, like by having the Archon Lorkus give it the Life Leech ability, during the tactics page and have Inept Healer or Deep Delver sustain the damage it receives using Corrupted Healing. Then, you can have units like Gonach Excavator and Halfshell Seer that have Resurgence placed next to Tasoshi Drakamoto to deal self- inflicted damage and trigger its Painforge.

Gives Tasoshi Drakamoto +1 magic damage and by giving Life Leech on tactics, will allow it to increase its health.
Sustain the damage Tasoshi Drakamoto received from Poison or Burning.
Inflict damage on Tasoshi Drakamoto using Rekless to trigger its Painforge ability.

Will Tasoshi Drakamoto Make Us Voucher Deflationary?

Each day, we printed a total of 40k Vouchers. 20k coming from SPS staking Rewards, and the other half was given to the Validator Node holders, so if the card lasts for 90 days, we will need to burn 3.6m Vouchers to be Voucher Deflationary. So far, we are only at 1,307,000 Vouchers spent on this card, or about 36% of the Vouchers that we will print in the entire duration that this card is available, and with only 50 days remaining, it will be hard to say if we will be able to become Voucher deflationary.

To be honest, I don't see this card as weak even before its stats were tweaked. However, It's predecessor, Kelan Gaines is just too powerful of a card and since they are both magic units, Tasoshi Drakamoto will always fail in comparison to it, and was holding it back from becoming a more desirable card. I think that another thing holding this card back is the lack of bloodline synergies with it which the new set of reward cards may solve, though that was still months in the future.

But at the same time, we still have the Gold Foil Arcane Fortune Draw that will start on August 12th, as well as the Black Foil Arcane Auction that will begin on August 26th, which may help to suck up lots of Vouchers, so being Voucher deflationary is pretty much possible. Right now, if we check the Market, there are a total of 3270 Fortune tickets and 688 Auction marks that were crafted, which collectively have used 67,100 Vouchers, which I think is quite low given that it was needed to get the rarest foils of the card. It may be just the whales and the land owners are just waiting until the event starts before they take action and craft tons of these items.

Closing

And that was it for Tasoshi Drakamoto, the newest voucher card. I think that it was good that the card got an upgrade and has made the card much more desirable than before. And with the games continuously changing meta, it was not impossible for this card to become a much needed card and create a demand for it.

Thank you and see you on the next post!
