Hello there! @saydie here, manually playing Splinterlands everyday!

Kha'zi Firemage.png

Finally! A new ranked mode in Splinterlands has arrive. Presenting, the new Survival Mode. Rather than to consume Energy to play the game, players can play any number of battles that they can. The caveat is, when monsters were defeated, they will be unusable for a certain amount of time, increasing the players stake. It was a mode that requires players to have a strong resolve as a minor mistake can make your cards out of commission.

And so, for this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I will walk you trough the #SplinterlandsSurvival mode and see if we can survive in this new mode.

A New Mode Has Arrive

Just after the beginning of the new season, a new mode was introduced to Splinterlands called Survival Mode in addition to Modern and Wild Format. In terms of mechanics, it is similar to the Wild format where all card sets can be used and that the use of Automation Tools and Battle Helpers are allowed. However, playing on Survival Mode does not require the consumption of energy. Instead, defeated cards will temporary be out of commission at varying duration based on the cards rarity and cannot be used anywhere whether it was for Brawls or Tournaments.

On the other hand, the cooldown for gold foil cards will be half the cooldown of their regular foil counterparts. For now, the rewards on playing survival mode was only SPS but just like the other two formats, it has the same amount of rewards pool allocated though it might take some time for it to be filled as the new mode has just started. The Rshare computation was the same with modern format, meaning that your rewards multiplier in Survival Mode will be the same if you reach the same rating as you have in modern.

How To Start Survival Mode

To start playing Survival Mode, players must fits to prepare their deck that they want to use for the new game format in order to avoid accidentally using the cards that you use on the other game formats. To do this, on the Items Menu , select on the Card to transfer you to your card collection page.

Once there, you can select the card that you want to exclude for your survival deck. At default, all the card collections were enabled for** Survival Mode** so the only thing that you need to do is to disable to the cards so that they won't be playable on Survival Mode.

After setting up your survival deck, you are now more than ready to play Survival mode. To do that, go to the ranked battle page and click on Survival. As you can see, the Energy bar is gone and what replaced it was the available number of cards by which I have 1, 775 cards that are available to use on Survival Mode.

Just like everybody, we will start at 0 rating for Wood League and will need to climb to Bronze before we start earning SPS.

Things To Remember Before Playing Survival Mode

🔸 Defeated Monsters Goes Into Cooldown.

Regardless of whether you win or loss the battle, all cards that were defeated will be subjected to cooldown, including the summoners.

🔸 Your Card Collection Counts.

The more your card collection, the higher chance that you will advance in a higher rating.

🔸 Only Season Rentals Can be Used for Survival Mode.

Rented card can be used for Survival Mode but the cards are needed to be rented for a season, otherwise, they won't be shared in the battle.

🔸 Surrendering a Match has Consequence too.

The consequence of surrendering a match is to have two random cards in your collection that will be randomly subjected into a cooldown even if they were not used in the battle. To prevent this from happening, on a battle that you think that you have no chance of winning, you can just put 1 bcx teams to protect your higher level cards.

🔸 Cooldown will Reset on New Season.

Regardless of the cooldown of the card, that cooldown will be reset once a new season has started so for players that only have 1 deck to play, End of season is the time when you can play Survival Mode.

🔸 No Glint and Leaderboard Rewards For Now.

Currently, the only rewards that can be won on Survival Mode was SPS. Glint Rewards on battles and leaderboard is still not implemented.

Revamped Leaderboard

Speaking of leaderboard, league-based leaderboards are now back and was even extended to 100 players per league but instead of giving out DEC, the leaderboard rewards were now in GLINT. This allows player on each league to improve their soulbound rewards collection faster and use the spare to buy other Glint shop items. The way that it is implemented is that the league where you compete will be based on the league where you reset after the end of season.

Since my reset last season was on Diamond, I will be competing in the diamond leaderboard even if I reached champion league.

Closing

As a casual player with small card collection, I will say that Survival Mode is not for me and the only time that I can jump on it was during the EOS. On the other hand, this new mode appeals a lot for players with larger collection of cards. As a result, it can increase the overall utility of cards, particularly from the older sets to have better price appreciation.

Thank you and see you on the next post!

Hello! Thank you for this information. I think the detail you mention about seasonal rentals and survival mode is important. I think that is where we, those of us who have a modest card collection, have an opportunity to earn income from rentals. Regards.

Yeah.. Still have no information about revival potions but I think that will have a huge impact on playing survival mode in the future.
