Splinterlands Turns Seven Years Old

In order to play Splinterlands, the player must first select an Archon card which can give additional stats or grant abilities to your Unit cards. A player can choose up to 6 unit cards but this could change due to the rulesets and mana caps which are game modifiers that alters the game's default mechanics. While the core gameplay is pretty much the same since it's release, with each new set that was introduced to the game, they also introduced new abilities and game mechanics. Because of this, the game can be easy to play but hard to master but that is the beauty of a card strategy game.

Along its journey, Splinterlands has created 5 major sets and 2 mini sets. Not to mention the promo cards and the tons of reward cards by which players can owned by just participating in the game that they can later rent or trade to other players and card collectors. Aside from it, there is also a Gladiator set that players can mainly use during guild brawls. This cards can be used in ranked battles, tournament and guild brawls where participants can win SPS (Splintershards) which is the games governance token.

Alpha Set	First core set with 59 and 4 promo cards.
Beta Set	A reprint of the Alpha set but with some additional cards, totaling for 79 core cards,18 promo cards and 49 reward cards.
Untamed Set	Second core set with 84 cards, 3 promo cards and 36 reward cards.
Dice Set	A mini-set for Untamed with a total of 25 cards.
Chaos Legion	Third core set of the game with the largest number of cards. The core set has 103 cards and 7 promo cards. It also has 33 reward cards and 43 soulbound reward cards.
Riftwatchers	The mini- set for Chaos Legion which comes with 43 cards and 1 promo card.
Rebellion	Fourt core set which contains 93 cards, 17 promo cards and 43 reward cards.
Conclave Arcana	Splinterlands' fifth and most recent set that launch with 82 core cards and 3 promo cards. An additional 9 cards will be added with Conflicts and another promo card will soon be purchasable.
Alpha Set	Has a total of 32 cards that were mainly used for brawls and can only be purchased through packs using merits.

Aside from ranked battles, players can also participate in the land gameplay wherein they can use their cards on virtual land to produce different type of resources such as grains, wood, stone and ore which they can exchange to DEC (Dark Energy Crystal) through liquidity pools.

Another option is to use the resources to produce Aura that can be used to craft Midnight Potion which doubles the chance of getting Black Foil cards from Conclave Arcana packs and is the first real utility for land.
