Season 170 Results Reflections

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Splinterlands ranked season 170 has just ended yesterday, and with season 171, excitement towards the game is very high with this season celebrating the Dragon's Feast Event, which I assume to be something like the Thanksgiving Holiday for Splinterlands. With this event, not only we are getting new limited edition skins, there is also some new rulesets that were only exclusive during this event, and most of all, there are new cards that people can earn through playing the game, separate from the reward cards, which were also not soulbound, making them tradeable.
That said with the increased cost of Card draws and Loot chests in the Glint shop, obtaining this new items will proved to be difficult, I really need to think about the things that I want to prioritize in the game, but before I do that, I first need to analyze how I preform last season.

Modern Format Season 83 Splinterlands Report

After not getting any leaderboard rewards last season because I fell short to rank within the top 100 players of the Champion leaderboard, this season, I was able to bounce back and get 150,000 Glint for placing at the top 17 of the Diamond leaderboard. However, while doing so, I also reached Champion league last season, even though I quickly dropped back at diamond rating. Because of that, I once again will need to compete within the Champion leaderboard, which is a big challenge with the current deck I play. And even for instance, I get anywhere between top 76-100 of the leaderboard, I still only get 50,000 Glint, which is not even half of what I get just by staying in Diamond.
I would not say it's all that bad since by advancing to champion III, I also received advancement chest, which consist of 13 minor chest, 10 major chest and 4 ultimate chest, which will cost a total of 71,500 Glint. Anyway, here are my season results.
| Statistic | ![]() Modern Ranked Diamond |
|---|---|
| Rank | 17- Diamond |
| Rating | 3,640 |
| Total Battles | 389 |
| Total Wins | 191 |
| Win Rate | 49.1% |
| Longest Streak | 5 |
| Leaderboard Reward |
Compared to previous seasons, I played way less battle this time around. This was due to the increased cost of loot chests, which is my main means of acquiring additional energy, but I guess that was true to most of the players. Another reason for the decrease in battles was because, I will just play enough battle to claim all my fortune entry. Once I get the 15 wins that I need, I would save the remaining energy for the next day, unlike the previous season where I will play all my energy as soon as I can.
Still, that additional 150k Glint that I get this season was a huge addition to help me open more chests.
| Staking Rewards | 26.746 SPS |

| Ranked Rewards | 2,683.684 SPS |
| Brawl Rewards | 113.865 SPS |
| Tournament Prize | 792.717 SPS |
| Total | 3,617.012 SPS |
With less battles to play, that will also reflect with the SPS that I earned, and this time, I only earned 3,617.012 SPS last season or about $ 24.29. Actually, it was higher compared to the season prior to this but that is because of the brawl and tournament prizes that I won. And when I consider the increase increase on my rentals, results were not good.

| Glint Season | |
| Reward | |
| Total Glint Earned |
For my glint rewards, I earned a total of 523,500 Glint, but since, I also purchased items in the Glint shop, there was less than 400k Glint left in my balance, even with both the season and leaderboard Glint. For the time being, I am saving my Glint until Tuesday, when the new cards was added to the chest's jackpot pool.
| SPS Rental | 3,580 DEC |
|---|---|
| Card Rental | 24,841.305 DEC |
| Tournament Fees | 1,850 DEC |
| Fortune Pass | 250 DEC |
| Total Cost | 30,521.305 DEC |
| Glint Purchase |
When I talk about my SPS earnings not being great, despite the partial increase, that was due to my expenses also increasing with me having to spend 30,521.305 DEC or about $17.78, including the payment for the fortune pass, which I haven't won a again since the first week, and if we subtract that with the SPS that I earn, I would only came out with $ 6.51 profit.

CA Rewards Progress
Thanks to the site splinterhub.com, we now have an easier way to monitor the progress of our CA reward cards. Due to the increased cost of Draws and chests, it was a lot harder to level up the rewards than before.

As you can see, with the exception of Stonebind Matron and Oshannus Unmade that are still at level 4, I had the rest of my common cards at level 5 or the cap for Silver league. Meanwhile, my Grove Doomblade and Withered Old Sage were still at level two among my rare rewards, as the rest were already at level 3.
On the other hand, I have yet to get a single copy of Voss, Saltwraith Pirate and Tandi Janda on epics, while legendary rewards are still at 0%.

With how expensive the chests and draws are, I think, I would not go for any minor or ultimate chest, which means I would also not get a chance of getting any of the new skins. My focus will be on the major chest and will only buy 1 batch per season until I could save enough Glint for a batch of common draw this season and rare draw for the next in order to slowly build by common and rare collection first, since the cost for epic and legendary is too high for me right now.
When it comes to ranked battle, I still prefer if I could stay in Diamond league this season but if I managed to go champ, I will just have to try my best to keep within that league.
