Not Today Mr. Smith
Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
After it's long hiatus, Share Your Battle is back but this time, instead of having a featured Splinter for the post, this time, it was to share my epic encounter together with the battle strategies and card combinations that have allowed me to win the game.
The Battle that I will show to you this week was from @bltzr-wizard-726 which is a scholar account I'm playing from Balthazar Guild with max level Chaos Legion and the strategy that I will be showing you was against the Rebellion promo card, Grimbardun Smith which has been one of the meta specially on the higher leagues but before we proceed to the battle, lets take a look on this card first and see what makes this card really strong.
Edition | Rebellion (Promo) |
---|---|
Mana Cost | 6 |
Element | ![]() |
Rarity | Rare |
Card Type | ![]() |
Abilities | Lvl 1 - ![]() Lvl 3 - ![]() Lvl 5 - ![]() Lvl 8 - ![]() |
RF Burn Value | 20 |
GF Burn Value | 500 |
As you can see, Grimbardun Smith was a card with no attack which is supposed to not be a threat but as you can see, it has the Void and Shield ability which reduces the damage it receives from all types of attacks together with its 10 health and 3 armor that it can restored with Repair. Furthermore, it has Immunity which makes it immune to debuffs so even Poison won't work on this card. Then all you need to do was to use Lily Shieldpaw with this card as the tank and support it with Heal and you will have an almost undefeatable card but not today with the strategy that I will show you.

For this battle, Are You Entertained Yet was the only available ruleset but with this comes the ability to use Gladius cards in ranked battles. With this in consideration, my lineup was consist of:
Summoner: Lily Shieldpaw - Gives +1 health on all allied monsters together with the Camouflage ability which means that all monsters that have this ability cannot be directly attacked unless they are in the 1st position and can restore the health of a backline monster with Triage.
1st Position: Void Dragon - Has Flying ability which gives it 25% evasion chance together with Void which reduce magic damage and Phase that enables it to evade magic attacks.
2nd Position: Naga Assassin - Increases the speed of all aly monsters with Swiftness and inflict damage to the opponent when it misses attacking this card using Backfire.
3rd Position: Spirit Hoarder - Gives another 15% evasion chance which affects all allied monsters with Blind and removes the buffs of the target with Dispel.
4th Position: Sola Ranjell - Has Tank Heal that restores the health of the frontline monster and Bloodlust that will increase all its stats by +1 if it defeats a monster.
5th Position: Djinn Renova - Increases the Health of all allied monsters with Strengthen.
6th Position: Venari Crystalsmith Also has Tank Heal to provide more heal to the tank and also have Dispel.
Battle Phase
Round 1:
Opponent Team: Has manages to inflict 4 damage on Void Dragon but it has been downed to 2 with the Heal from Venari Crystalsmith.
My team: Also manage to remove Grimbardun Smith's extra 2 health buffs with Dispel and although it was healed by Meriput Magician, we still managed to bring its health down to 8.
Round 2 - 4:
Opponent Team: It was only Vruz that manages to damage Void Dragon this round but with the double heal from Venari Crystalsmith and Sola Ranjell, my tank was on full health at the end of this round.
My Team: Deals another 4 damage on Grimbardun Smith which was although Healed by Meriput Magician, it's health was now down to 7.
The same pattern goes till round 4 and by that round, Grimbardun Smith only has 5 health.
Round 5:
Opponent Team: Vruz and Helmet Kharafax managed to hit Void Dragon with 4 damage but the double Heal from Venari Crystalsmith and Sola Ranjell return it although at the end of the round, Grimbardun Smith inflicts another 2 damage that reduce the health of Void Dragon to 9.
My Team: My team deals another 4 damage which reduce the health of Grimbardun Smith down to 4.
Round 6 - 7:
Opponent Team: This time, the health of Void Dragon has been down to 7 due to the damage from Vruz and Stitch Leech which also gained 2 health because of Life Leech.
My Team: Going steady with its damage, Grimbardun Smith now only has 3 health.
Same pattern as round 2 happens in round 7 but this time, Grimbardun Smith now only has 2 health.
Round 8:
Opponent Team: They were more agressive this time with Aves Sturgis, the only monster that was not able to hit Void Dragon which brings its health down to 5 which brings the increased health of Stitch Leech by using Life Leach.
My Team: As the same pattern of attacks, keeps hitting Grimbardun Smith, it now only has 1 health remaining.
Round 9:
Opponent Team: This round, it was only Vruz that was able to hit Void Dragon so the double Heal from Venari Crystalsmith and Sola Ranjell brings its health to 9.
My Team: With only 12 health remaing, Void Dragon finally defeated Grimbardun Smith which quickly followed by Aves Sturgis together with the buffs of Helmet Kharafax removed.
Round 10:
Opponent Team: With only Vruz hitting again this round, Void Dragon's health was once full again.
My Team: The full force of the attack has managed to lower the health of Helmet Kharafax to 2 even when it recieves Heal from Meriput Magician.
Round 11:
Opponent Team: This time, aside from Vruz, Stitch Leech also hits Void Dragon which increases its health.
My Team: Naga Assassin defeats Helmet Kharafax while the full attack of my team has manage to reduce the health of Stitch Leech to 2.
Round 12 - 13:
Opponent Team: With only Vruz dealing damage this round, Void Dragon was once again back into full health.
My Team: naga Assassin defeats Stitch Leech followed by Vruz that was defeated by Djinn Renova and for the final attack, Spirit Hoarder managed to remove the buffs on Meriput Magician and deal 2 damage on it.
And with round 13, Meriput Magician was defeated as the full force of my team goes to attack it to claim the victory for this very long battle.
Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
As you can see, Grimbardun Smith was a very difficult card to defeat upfront specially when partnered by Lily Shieldpaw and it was even given magic damage during this battle with Weapon's Training which makes its one weakness to vanish but having a very fast monster as its opponent that almost none of its attacks hit gives me the opportunity to defeat it with a consistent amount of damage.
That was it for this post. Thank you and see you at the next one.
