Moments That Help Me Improve As A Battle Mage

2026_CEC_01.png

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

I've been playing Splinterlands for more than 4 years now, and compared to that time, I am completely a way better player. And I could say that I continue to grow as a player every day, winning some battles and learning things when defeated as I clash with other players that were also becoming better and better with every defeat that they experience. That said, there are still some major turning points in those years, which I can say that heavily impacted how I approached each of my battles and shaped the current me as a player.

So, for this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I want to talk about those moments, and maybe you can get a lesson or two that can guide you in your Splinterlands journey.

First Turning Point: Advancing To a Higher League

Way back to the time when League caps still exists, all players, whether it was a small krill or a whale with huge card collection is required to advance to the next league if they want to compete in that league, and not only that the player will need to reach a certain amount of rating first to have the ability to advanced league, they also had to fight with their cards level capped, not to mention that players are also need to have a certain amount of collection power before they can advanced a league. Now, it's pretty much straight forward. You only need to reach the required rating to advanced a league.

The reason that I talked about it is because before league caps were removed, all players can only play the cards that they have based on the league where they currently belong, and the way the cards are played also greatly differs, depending on the league they are currently played. So I think that the first moment that I became a better player is when I first advanced a league and since there are 4 separate leagues during that time (as Diamond/ Champion league has basically the same level cap), I have grown as a player 4 different times.

Second Turning Point: Blogging Splinterlands in Hive

My first Entry in SPlinterlands Contest.

Another turning point that allows me to grow as a Splinterlands player is when I started to white in Hive, joining the weekly Splinterlands Social Media and Share Your Battle Challenge. By joining these two challenge every week, I've got a better understanding of the game as I deeply analyze each of the battles that I wrote in my post. It helps me to better learn of each of the cards' capabilities, and how I could utilize them in battle at what situations. But aside from that, it also helps me to improve my writing and editing skills, and I now have expanded my writing to other things that I am interested.

Third Turning Point: Joining A Guild

The third turning point that helps me to grow as a player is when I joined a guild. Not only it allows me to discuss strategies with fellow guild members, joining a guild also helps me to be able to use cards that I do not have. For example, before our guild leader gets AWOL, he will delegate cards to the members of the guild who lack certain cards to use in their brawl, whether it was an Archon or a specific card. In case that he do not have that card, he will sent us DEC so that we could rent the card for our selves. And for those players who sweep their brawls, he will also sent them packs, which resulted for each members to be more motivated and upped their game. One of the reason that I still stay on this guild is due to the goodwill that I received from my Guild leader, and there still have members in the guild that are still somehow active in the game. Hopefully, our guild leader returns someday to bring our guild to its old glory. He also has pretty much all of his assets, so I think that there is a strong chance that he will.

Closing

And those were the major moments that helps me to become a better player. Looking back now, this last 4 years has been quite a wild ride with their fair share of challenges that has helped me grow a a player, the same for those who stick into the game.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!
