Metal Core Crabs
Hello fellow music lovers! It's me @saydie and I hope that everyone was having a wonderful Tuesday. It has been a while since I made a #threetunetuesday post but for those who do not know about it, it was a contest initiated by ablaze where participants showcase 3 songs different songs of your choice. Today, I feel like wanting to share some songs from a Metalcore sub- genre called Crabcore which is a sub- genre often associated with auto-tunes accompanied by heavy breakdowns but what it was most known about was where you see guitarist squat low with their legs spread in a "crab-like" stance. When it was first introduced, every gatekeepers hates it however, the young people loves it and quickly spreads quickly way past the confines of metal and hardcore world that becomes a mainstream topic that was featured in The Guardian. So without further ado, here are my song picks for today.
Bless the Fall - What's Left of Me
What's Left of Me was the second song on Bless the Fall's 2019 album, Witness, the same album where Hey Baby, Here's That Song You Wanted which is a downloadable content for the Xbox Rhythm game Rockband and one of the sound track for Splintercell: conviction, was a part of. Anyways, the song was about confession for doing something wrong and begging for forgiveness as they continued to be drowning in guilt. The production was quite simple with them just shooting it on an empty stage and performing crabcore stuff in this setup adds more content to it in comparison to when the rest of the band were just doing the normal thing.
Asking Alexandria- The Final Episode
The Final Episode was one of Asking Alexandria's most successful song. The song shows the band playing in an empty room by which a table was shown with a cup of tea on top of it but as the song goes, the cup gradually moves until it reaches the edge of the table and falls and behind this was the meaning of the song which is about a friend that takes suicide and how he regretted about not being able to save him. As a crabcore song, there was autotune in this song and that crab-like choreography on it.
Attack Attack- Stick Stickly
Now, for the last song in this list, we got the song that popularize the crabcore sub- genre with Attack Attack's Stick Stickly which believe it or not was a worship song when you look at the lyrics. I believe that the song's title was referenced from an old Nickelodeon character. As a crabcore song, it has the auto tune and the crablike choreography but when I first thing that takes me by surprice is the WHOO! part on 0:58 where 2 of the guitarist jump at the same time and perform a perfect guitar-flip back-kick maneuver.
And that was it for this week's #threetunetuesday post. Thank you very much if you made it until the end and you can tell me which song have you liked or was something that you never heard.
See you until next time!
