Frontier Got New Jackpot Cards

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

For the past two weeks or so, the Splinterlands Hive challenge has been on a pause. From what I can gather, they are making some changes internally, so until those things have been finalized, I do not think there will be any challenge in the foreseeable future. Does not necessarily mean that people can no longer write a post. It's just that there will be no topic suggestions and guaranteed vote (as long as one follows all the rules) to be given. You can write any topics that you want to share, regardless of votes.
Anyway, last Tuesday, January 13th, the Free to Play Frontier Format has gotten new Jackpot Cards, so I want to take a look at each one of them, and how they can spice up Frontier ranked battles.
I want to take a look at the Conclave Arcana Dragon Rewards, and see how each of the cards will fare in battles.

Frontier Jackpot Cards

Frontier Jackpot cards do not replace any of the existing rewards. Instead, these are additional bonuses that players can get through participation in Frontier ranked battles. These cards do not appear in packs or advancement chests. They can only be acquired when claiming daily Frontier rewards, so to get them, players must win the required number of battles, making it so that only those who spend time and attention by participating in the battles can get them.
In total, there are 4 new cards that will be added to the jackpot, and they will be under the Extra set for the Foundation cards. Each of them comes with different foil variants, including Gold Foil, Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, and Black Foil Arcane. And since they are jackpot cards, they are not locked as soulbound, so players can easily transfer or trade the cards, which not only gives players more avenues to build their collection, but also another way for them to earn on a completely free-to-play format by only playing the game.
Aimee Whisperwind

Aimee Whisperwind was a melee water unit with the Leonine bloodline. Since Bloodline Dominion skills are not available in Frontier format, the card's bloodline does not really matter right now, same with the other cards, but even in modern format, there are currently no Archons that share the same bloodline with the card. When it comes to its abilities, it has Opportunity that allows it to attack the opponent unit with the lowest health regardless of its position and Fury that can inflict double damage if the target has Taunt. At 9 mana, it was a very costly card to use, but it comes with fairly decent attack and great speed.
Necrulencian Thief

For the death unit, we have Necrulencian Thief, which is a melee unit with Human Bloodline. For 8 mana, it has a max of 3 damage, 3 speed, and 6 health. Not bad at all since it can attack back-line units with Sneak and potentially inflict them with Poison, so that they will lose health every round. If I'm not wrong, this card is the first Frontier card that will have Poison, so this can be a really meta-changing card for Frontier.
White Chickadee

Meanwhile, we have the Mundane Beast, White Chickadee for the Life element. It is a 3-mana non-damage unit with Flying, so it gets immune to the effects of the Earthquake ruleset and has the Tank Heal ability to restore the health of the unit in the first position. That said, it has very low health and has the Untrainable debilitation, so it cannot gain attack through Weapon's Training.
Eris Bimblenok

And for the last card, we have the fire magic unit Eris Bimblenok with the Drakoshan Bloodline, so if we use it at modern, it can gain an additional speed when used together with the Dragon Archon Kravorn Skarn through its Bloodline Dominion, but even without that, the Fire Frontier Archon, Barthalamas can also provide the same thing. For a 10- mana unit, it was really slow with only 1 speed and only had 6 health, so I kind of don't know if it will be worth it to have this card for 3 damage, aside from the fact that it has the Inspire ability that can boost the damage of all ally melee units by 1.

Jackpot Mint Population
With the exception of the ultra-rare card variants, Foundation cards distribution has no specific cap, but that was not the case for the Frontier Jackpot cards. All card variants have their specific mint population, so after those were given out, there will be no more copies of the card that will be available.
| Rarity | RF | GF (CC) | BF | GFA | BFA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aimee Whisperwind | 25,000 | 1,250 | 150 | 50 | 20 |
| Necrulencian Thief | 5,000 | 600 | 50 | 25 | 10 |
| White Chickadee | 2,500 | 300 | 25 | 10 | 5 |
| Eris Bimblenok | 500 | 100 | 10 | 5 | 1 |
| Total | 33,000 | 2,250 | 235 | 90 | 36 |
Given by the mint population of each card, there are 416 potential regular foil max copies and 250 gold foil max copies for Aimee Whisperwind, 200 regular max copies and 150 gold foil copies for Necrulencian Thief, 250 max regular and 150 max gold foil copies for White Chickadee, and 166 regular foil and 10 max gold foil copies for Eris Bimblenok.

Closing
And that was it for the new jackpot cards in Frontier mode. This is another proof-of-play concept that Splinterlands has to offer for its free-to-play players, and the only thing that they need to do is participate in the game and win enough battles to have the chance to get these cards, which I bet will have its niche use case in the lower leagues of modern format.
Thank you, and see you on the next post!
