Escalation: Some Things You Need To Know

2026_SPL_05.png

Hello there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

Escalation. That's the name of the upcoming Conclave Arcana mini-set, expected to be launched on February 10th or about 20 days from the writing of this post. The set consists of 46 cards in total, which consist of 12 commons, 12 rares, 8 epics, and 11 legendaries, not including the legendary Archons that will be airdropped through Conflicts. While full details about the mini-set's presale have not been laid out yet, I list some things that you will need to know if you are planning to participate in the sale.

Escalation

Under the SPS Proposal #236, Steem Monster Corp. was hired to develop the next mini-set under Conclave Arcana for 1,200M DEC, which is twice the up-front cost when they developed Conclave Arcana. While that was the case, all the sales that will come to Escalation will go directly to the SPS DAO. Originally, Escalation was meant to be released in December 2025, but was pushed to February 2026. I can't exactly remember the reason why it was moved, but was actually glad about it since it hasn't been long since they introduced the CA rewards and Extra cards, so having the mini-set above that can make things pretty overwhelming, and I also like how it extends the life of Rebellion in modern. But because the release of the set was moved, some changes were made to how Escalation will be released and its mechanics, which I think all the players who will participate in the sale should know.

Simplified Pack Type:

On the original proposal, Escalation was planned to be available in three pack types: Standard, Alchemy, and Legendary packs. But in the amended proposal, it was decided to contain it only in the Standard pack to leave less negative feelings if picking the “wrong pack type”. In the previous proposal, it was also meant that 10% of each pack type would be reserved in the Dao, but the amended proposal will now allocate 50k of the standard pack to the Dao.

Escalation Will Have A Separate Conflicts Mechanism:

image.png

It was during Rebellion that we first had the Conflict mechanism for card airdrops, and while we do not have a mini-set during that period, we have the Hall of Legends cards, which act just the same, but all of those promo cards can be used on the Rebellion Conflicts. This time, however, we had a mini-set, which at the same time will get its separate Conflict for 6 legendary Archons.

From what I understand, Escalation Conflicts will work the same, but only regular foils will be given in Conflicts. Compared to Conclave Arcana, the Conflicts score for escalation will be reduced, and I think it was done to lower the impact that black foils made in conflicts, which has made many players disappointed.

Aside from the changes in Conflict, there will be a slight change in the Wagon price, while the wagon repair cost will be half for Escalation. Since the Conflicts for Escalation will start after the last Conflicts for Conclave Arcana ended, there will be no need to change the existing wagon repair kits, but all broken Wagons will be removed from the player's inventory.

Removed Titles From Leaderboard

For the Escalation presale Leaderboard, it seems that instead of the Titles prize, it will be replaced by Skins. As for what Skins it will be, I don't know if it will be an exclusive Escalation skins or will be related to the Vin and Mags skin that was included in the Winterfest giftboxes. One thing is for sure, though, and that is Skin ≠ Title.

For the total number of places in the leaderboard, it seems that it was scaled down to only 10 places in total, which is really low compared to the Conclave Arcana presale. Each leaderboard place will get a bonus package with a 55 Gold Foil prize pool. We do not have any information yet as to what those gold foil card/s were and whether they will be a single BCX each or a max-level card.

Each Conflict Leaderboard Bonus Packages
PlaceBonus Packages
110 Bonus Packages + 1 #’d to 10 Skin
29 Bonus Packages + 1 #’d to 10 Skin
38 Bonus Packages + 1 #’d to 10 Skin
47 Bonus Packages + 1 #’d to 10 Skin
56 Bonus Packages + 1 #’d to 10 Skin
6-103 Bonus Packages + 1 #’d to 10 Skin
Total55 Bonus Packages + 10 #’d to 10 Skins
PS:
I think #’d stands for number of draws.

Closing

And those were some things that I think everyone who was thinking of participating in the upcoming mini-set sale should know, aside from the fact that Escalation will be only available for a period of 6 months, and any remaining unsold packs will go directly to the DAO. There are also other things in the amended proposal that I have not talked about, either because I do not think that they do not matter as much as the things above or because it was not 100% clear to me, and I do not want to provide wrong information.

Thank you, and see you on the next post!

Very interesting how they made changes to the presale and promotional leaderboard prizes. I also don't care about skins at all. I'm only really interested in the presale promos, so maybe I will buy 1200 packs just to make sure I get a maxed copy of both the legendary and rare presale promo.

I get why they don't want to give away titles, but replacing them with skins is kind of underwhelming.

Very underwhelming indeed. I don't care about skins at all. I only care about them being able to be sold for DEC. I'd happily just take the profit from skins to buy more cards!
