Dutdutan Day 2 Gives Me That Boom
Hello hivers! I know, it's been weekdays already, so it might be a little late to share a weekend story. Not that it happened this week, so it does not make much of a difference if I write this post on the weekend, but it will at least help me reduce the backlog of topics I want to write about. Anyways, I was on day 2 of the 25th Dutdutan Philippine Tattoo Expo, which was held last September 13, 2025. Not only was it the biggest tattoo event in the country, but there were also lots of local bands and artists, as well as the Welsh band, Skindred, that performed to fire up the event. Here is the list of lineup for the event. I do not have many pictures taken while the bands were performing, but I got at least one of their song recorded, before I dived to the pit and was linked for those who want to check on them.
I was hoping to attend the entirety of the event, but unfortunately, day 1 was on Friday, so I still have work, and I still have a half-day duty on day 2, which unfortunately resulted in me almost missing the 2nd band that performs. After arriving at the venue, I now need to meet up with my folks who arrived at the event earlier, but that proves to be difficult due to the large crowd, and with most of the people wearing the same clothes, in a venue where the lighting was focused on the stage. My attention was also taken by SkyChurch, who's currently performing on the stage at that time with their second to the last song, Victim.
But then, I just remembered that the next band that would perform was Setsuna, which was just formed last year, and one of the reasons why my folks and I go to the event. TL;DR, our group first heard them during Rakpublika 2025 in my province and became fans of the band, so wherever we can, we go to their concerts. Among the songs that they played was Ahon, Silaw, Dalangin, and Hardin, which is their still unreleased song. Unfortunately, I was still not able to meet up with the group, even though they were literally in front of me, and moshing as the song goes.

After Setsuna, they were followed by Kjwan, who plays some of their classic songs that include Pintura, while Tubero turned the stage upside down with their heavy, filthy music, such as their song Kapitbahay, dedicated to all the annoying neighbors. The band performed magnificently and even had a short colab with Toshiro Kier of Setsuna 😂, so you won't know that they are still dealing with the loss of their bass guitarist had just passed away only a few days after the death of Ozzy Osborne. Sandwhich was also present, and among the songs they played was Sugod that won them 5 awards on the 2006 MTV Philippines Music Awards. After that, Ebe Dancel performed on the stage with his songs that resonate with listeners and calm the audience after the barrage of energetic performances.
During this time, I got a message from my group to meet up close to the merch booth to get a picture along with Setsuna, so I moved right away to finally meet with them. While on it, I also find the opportunity to take a picture with Toshiro Kier.

While Ebe was still the artist performing on the stage, I took the opportunity to roam around the venue to get myself a fresh ink, but unfortunately, all the booths were packed with customers. I even asked some of the participating booths from my province if I could just come on a later date, but they told me that they are booked for at least 2 months, so probably no new ink for me until December.

So, rather than getting an ink, I get some cold drinks instead. Throughout the event, I got a total of 8 cups of beer, which is not really that many, but I have also rarely drunk alcohol for the last 2 years.
After that, I returned close to the stage as Wilabaliw is the next to perform. Their vocalist, Ian Tayao, who is hailed as one of the Philippines "Three Kings of Slam", has recently collaborated with Setsuna for the song Salarin and has been in the industry since 1994. Among the songs they performed was Hindi na Makita where, at the end of the show, he throws his Shirt to the audience. They are then followed by Glock 9 by which among the songs he played was Upuan, which highlights the social inequality between those in power and the poor and hits more than ever, given that it was recently revealed how deep the corruption in the government is, with funds for flood infrastructures going to a few people in power. The rapper Flow G also goes to the stage, but since I was not really into rap, I took the time to go to the restroom and take a look at more booths.

Finally, here comes the main performance of the event, we finally got to watch Skindred live. They sing their popular songs, which include Pressure, L.O.V.E, Warning, Gimme that Boom and Kill the Power. Unfortunately, they did not call for a Newport Helicopter, but if they do, I'm sure that many will take their shirts off and swing it to the sky. Not sure if it was the management or the band's decision.
While watching Skindred, I take notice of the woman in front of me was wearing a Saydie shirt, so I took a photo of it. It's obvious my Hive username was taken from them, as I happened to listen to them when creating my account. They were also performed in previous years of Dutdutan, but apparently, they were not available this year due to them having shows in Japan and Thailand.
After Skindred, it should be followed by the Bikini Contest, but for some reason, they pushed it later, so they were instead followed by Valley of Chrome, who was also another favorite band of mine, and among the songs that they performed was Pangako which still has the same energy from when I first watched it live 8 years ago.
Not long after Valley of Chrome's performance, they proceed with the Bikini Contest with a total of 8 candidates, judged based on their appeal, poise and how they answer Q&A which which includes no so safe from work questions. During the runway walks, they will do sexy poses and during that time, there are moments where the screen will show the audience reaction, almost sticked to the candidates as they walk. There was even the time where a man was caught with his mouth open but next to him was her partner, so when they were shown in the screen, she immediately tapped the guy in the face. Kid of reminds me of the CEO who was discovered cheating with his secretary during the Coldplay concert.

For the event's finale, another legend takes the stage with Greyhoundz performing. Their vocalist Reg Rubio was also one of the "Three Kings of Slam" with a very long history in the music industry. Even though they were the closing band, you can still feel the energy of the audience as they sing along the song Doble Kara.
Overall, it was a really fun event, despite me getting some bruises when I was moshing and my whole body was aching. After the event, I also got to hear some of the audience talking about Setsuna, which as a fan, brings joy to me, as the band I'm looking into gets known and recognized by more people.
That was it for me. Thank you for reading my post, and see you on the next one.
