A Surprise Escape to the New Tops: A Weekend of Family, Food, and Views

Sometimes, the best plans are the ones we never make. Last weekend, what started as a simple coffee-and-cake date at Kermit’s turned into a spontaneous family getaway to the newly reopened Tops in Cebu! And let me tell you—it was one of those unplanned adventures that turned out absolutely perfect.

With our parents around, the weekend felt extra special. We had no set itinerary, no big expectations—just the idea of driving up the mountains and enjoying whatever the day had in store for us. And oh, did Tops deliver!

The moment we arrived, we were greeted by the crisp mountain air, which was even colder thanks to a sudden rain shower. If you’re planning to visit, take note—bringing a jacket is a must! But honestly, the cool weather only made the experience cozier.

The 360° View is Now Open!

One of the best surprises? The 360° viewing deck is now officially open! The breathtaking panoramic view of Cebu, Mactan, and the surrounding islands made the drive up so worth it. However, apart from the ₱100 entrance fee, you’ll need to pay an additional ₱50 to access the 360° viewing deck. But trust me, it’s worth it! They even have a big telescope where you can zoom in and get a detailed view of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX)—a unique experience that adds an extra touch to the whole visit.

After soaking in the views (and taking about a hundred photos, of course), we settled in for dinner at Tops of Cebu Restaurant. The warm, comforting dishes were perfect for the chilly evening, and nothing beats sharing a good meal with family.

Since Bo’s Coffee was fully packed (everyone had the same idea as us, apparently!), we ended up at 10th Dove Street for our post-dinner coffee fix. Honestly, no complaints there—it’s always a cozy spot with great coffee and pastries to end the night on a sweet note.

What started as a casual coffee date turned into a full-on family bonding weekend. It reminded me that sometimes, the best moments happen when we least expect them.
