✨ A Night in History & Good Food: Agatona 1927 Museum Café, Jaro Iloilo ✨
You know that kind of place that makes you feel like you just time-traveled in style? That’s exactly what we felt the moment we stepped inside Agatona 1927 Museum Café in Jaro, Iloilo. We arrived around 7:00 PM, ready to soak up history and food—and sis, it did not disappoint.
Agatona isn’t your usual café. It’s literally housed in a restored ancestral home, full of vintage portraits, old-school charm, and elegant plates that make you want to sip tea with your pinky up. But don’t worry—it’s still very warm and welcoming.
For just ₱350 per head, we availed of their self-tour package, which is consumable. Yessss, consumable! Meaning: your payment covers both your food and the experience of walking through a piece of Philippine heritage. Major win. 👏
Let’s talk about the food—because you know that’s the love language. We ordered a mix of dishes that brought comfort and curiosity to the table:
📸 Swipe-worthy setup! The plates were ornate, the table setting regal, and everything looked too pretty to eat… but of course, we did. 😂
• Dinuguan: Rich, thick, and full of flavor. Honestly, it was giving “lola’s secret recipe” energy.
• Pasta: Creamy with a savory twist—definitely a surprise star of the night.
• Rice meals with pork dishes: Tender, flavorful, and perfect with a glass of iced tea.
• And for dessert? We had their ice cream with barquillos—simple, nostalgic, and sooo good after a hearty meal.
We took a little self-guided tour after dinner (which was part of the package). From the intricate wood floors to the grand portraits on the walls, every corner whispered stories of the past. It was giving tita vibes, art student feels, and heritage queen realness all in one.
Plus, the lighting? Absolutely perfect for your IG feed.
Final Thoughts:
Would I go back? Absolutely. Agatona 1927 Museum Café isn’t just a dining spot—it’s a whole mood. Whether you’re in it for the food, the ambiance, the history, or the OOTD potential, it’s worth the visit.
📍Location tip: It’s just across the famous Jaro Plaza, so after our dinner in Agatona, we did a relaxing evening stroll—slow walk, soft breeze, and city lights. A perfect way to end the night. ✨
💡 Tips for First-Timers:
• Go around golden hour or early evening—everything just glows.
• Book in advance, especially on weekends.
• Wear something comfy but cute—trust me, the photos will be worth it.
It was a great memory worth remembering.
Until the next foodventure! ✨🍽️
